Honoring Alfred A. Helfgott, formerly of Detroit, on the oc-
casion of his birthday, Dr. and Mrs. James Gladstone, of N. Quak-
er Lane, W. Hartford, Conn., entertained at a dinner party at their
home for 13 members of the Helfgott family. Among the recent
Detroiters visiting Mr. and Mrs. Alfred A. Helfgott and daughters,
Louise and Sylvia, in their new home at 23 Pontiac Road, W. Hart-
ford, Conn., were: Dr. and Mrs. Harold A. Maxmen and son .Jerry,
Dr. and Mrs. David M. Levin, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Beck, Mr.
and Mrs. Meyer (Gertrude Engel) Rubin, Miss Harriet Egriri, and

Detroit women who left last weekend to attend the Mid-East-
ern Conference of the National Council of Jewish Women which
was held at Terre Haute, Ind., included Mesdames Lewis B. Daniels,
president of the Detroit section; Samuel R. Glogower, Board mem-
ber, I. Irving Bittker, Joseph B. Gaylord and David Pollack. From
Council's Career 'Group, Miss Fay Gollub and Mrs. Phillip Nusholtz
attended.

Mrs. Sam Klein of Monterey Ave., recently returned from a
visit to Cleveland, where she was the guest of her children, Dr. and
Mrs. Simon Koitesky. The Koletsky's have moved from their Euclid,
0., home to 2559 Dysart Rd., University Heights.
Mrs. Jack Wagner, of Buena Vista Ave., is visiting her chil-
dren, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Blechman, of Dover, Del.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sovel and sons have moved from their

Mr. and Mrs. Abel J. Selburn of Lesure Ave., are vacationing
in Miami Beach at the Shelbourne Hotel.
Jackie Goldberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Goldberg
of Milwaukee, Wis., is spending the Thanksgiving vacation here
as the house guest of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Morse and their son,
Richard Jay.
Mrs. Irving B. Ackerman, of Shrewsbury Road, has as her
guest, Mrs. Rifka Bernstein, of Tel Aviv, Israel.

the 41st General Assembly of the Union of American Hebrew Con-
gregations in Cleveland, Nov. 12 to 15: Rabbi Leon Fram, Charles
L. Goldstein, Aaron Kishner, Harry C. LeVine, Harry L. Pliskow,
Irving Small, George M. Stutz and Murray J. Sutkin. The entire
arrangements for the dinner.
Honoring her house-guest, Mrs. Ethel Smith of Johannesburg,
South Africa, Mrs. Samuel B. Danto entertained members of the
Sisterhood boards of Temple Beth El and Temple Israel at a
luncheon in her home on Chicago Boulevard last Friday after-
noon. Mrs: Smith, who is secretary of the Reform Jewish Move-
ment in South Africa, is making an extensive study of Sisterhood
activities during her tour of the United States, Switzerland and
England, and she is scheduled to speak to. many grOups in these
countries regarding South African community life. On Saturday,
Mrs. Smith was honored by the members of the board of the
Pontiac Sisterhood at a luncheon at Rotunda Inn.'

'days in Detroit visiting his mother, Mrs. A. Gordon of Elmhurst
Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cohen of Warrington Drive have returned
from a week's vacation at the Plaza in New York City.
Mrs. Merwin Blach of Birmingham, Ala., is in Detroit visiting
her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Van Baalen
of Collingwood Ave., and other members of her faMily and friends.
During her stay Mrs. Blach is the house-guest of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Ginsburg of the Belcrest Hotel.
Dr. and Mrs. Louis Schwartz of Argyle Crescent spent the
past Week-end in New York City, and en route home will spend
the Thanksgiving holiday in Kalamazoo, Mich. as the house-
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Orwin of that city.

came the wife of Daniel Niss,
at a wedding Nov. 12 at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek. The groom's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. I. Niss,
of Tuxedo Ave.
At the wedding, performed by
Rabbi Morris Adler, Beverly Katz
was maid of honor and Sherry
Jaffe, of Cleveland, was matron
of honor. The groom's brother,
Sidney Niss, was best man.
Bridsmaids were Ruth Kaplan
and Frances Schwartz, and ush-
ers were Jack Schwartz and Ber-
nie Bushman. A reception fol-
lowed at the synagogue.
The couple are spending a two
Week honeymoon in New York.

matic pageant written and di-

of Young Israel's Women's
League and music will be pre-

baum and Mesdames Harry
Portnoy and Milton Winston.

Members of Haifa Chapter,

will see the color films of Israel
taken by Morris M. Jacobs, pres-

Region, at their meeting at 8:30
p.m. Monday at the home of
Dr. and Mrs. Louis L. Kazdan.
Mrs. David Wallace and Mrs.
Kazdan will be co-hostesses for
the evening, which will include
community singing and a sum-
mary of current events. Re-
