Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Prentis of Covington Drive have returned
from a week in New York City.
• Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Katz of Yankton, S. D., have been
the guests of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed-
ward Katz of Burlingame Ave., for the past three weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wagner of Wellesley Drive are spending
the week in New York City.
Members of the Rafelson Auxiliary and Post of the Jewish
War Veterans entertained last week at a wiener roast and eve-
ning of dancing and games, given at the Jewish War Veterans'
Memorial Home.
Among the Detroiters who spent the past week-end in New
York City and attended the Michigan-Army football game were
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Rose of Fairfield Ave., Mr. and Mrs. Lester
Smith of Oak Drive and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Marwil of Penning- .
ton Drive, all of whom were guests at the Hotel Gotham, and
Allan - Sloan of Santa Clara Ave.
Mrs. May Thwing of Minneapolis is the guest of Mrs. Simon
Segar of the Lee Crest.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rosenthal, Jr. of Renfrew Road have re-
turned from a week's stay in New York City.
Mrs. Clarence Mills of Cincinnati is in Detroit for a fortnight
visiting her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Jacob-
son of Huntington Woods.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rothberg of Chicago Blvd. are spending
the week in New York City.
Detroit members of ORT who are guests at the Waldorf in
New York City this week to attend the 11th biennial convention
of Women's American' ORT includes Mesdames Clarence Enggass,
Harry Becker, Earl Freshman, Joseph Fenton, Lillian Graham,
Morse Goldman, Moritz Kahn, Harold Kukas, Louis Lansberg,
Joseph Landsberg, Charles LaPorte, Ralph Levy, Nathan Simons.
Mrs. Joseph Alexander of Fairfield Ave. has returned from
a visit in Toledo wth her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Lester Alexander.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Klein of Stratford Road have returned
from a week-end's visit in New York City where they attended
the Army-Michigan game.
Mrs. I. Wetman of Grand Rapids recently visited in Detroit
with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Rafelson
of Oak Drive.
Max Gerstman of the Whittier Hotel is spending the 1 :^V e e k
in New York City.
Mrs. Nathan Rollins of Parkside Ave. is spending a month in
Hollywood, Fla., visiting her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Sol
Sallan.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Simons of Parkside Ave. have returned
from New York City, where they spent the past week-end.
Mrs. Josh Abramson of Los Angeles is spending several weeks
in Detroit visiting her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Sampliner of the Belcrest Hotel.
Mrs. Milton Prag of Santa Barbara Drive entertained at a
luncheon and shower at Huyler's on Oct. 12, honoring her niece,
Miss Sabra Prag, a November bride-elect.
Detroit members of the National Council of Jewish Women,
who are guests at the Barbizon-Plaza in New York City this week
to attend the national board meeting, are Mesdames Joseph M.
Welt, Samuel Glogower and Louis Cohane.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Hirschman of Whitmore Road, accom-
panied by Miss Sadie Hirschman of Glynn Court and Mr. and
Mrs. R. Myers of Seward Ave. motored to Cincinnati to visit
with members of their family for several days this week.
Mr. and Mrs. S. Lewis of .Milwaukee are the house-guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kann of Ardmore Road.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Allen of Lincolnshire Road have re-
turned from a visit in New York City.
Out-of-town guests who visited in Detroit recently to at-
tend the wedding of Miss Betty Frank to Russell Schulman on
Oct. 15 included the parents and brother of the groom, Mr. and
Mrs. Louis Schulman and Robert Schulman of Beverly Hills, Calif.,
and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Laser of Woodmeret Long Island.

Records of Detroit Jewry's Early Life
Sought for 50th Anniversary of WC

Documents, souvenirs and pic-
tures portraying the early his-
tory of the Jews of Detroit are
being sought to form part of
the "Community Album," a
series of exhibits to be diSplayed
at the 50th anniversary . cele-
bration of the United Jewish
Charities. Judge Theodore Levin,
UJC president, announces that
the celebration will be in the
form of a dinner, Nov. 28, at the
Book-Cadillac Hotel.
As co-chairmen of the "Com-
munity Album," Mrs. Melville S.
Welt and Miss Edith S. Heaven-
rich have asked members of the
community to lend appropriate
materials to help present a pie-

At a candlelight ceremony in
the Lee Plaza Hotel Sunday
evening, Oct. 8, Eileen Harriet
Ferentz, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Kanterman of Calvert
Ave., became the bride of Mar-
vin Goldman, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Julius Goldman of Griggs
Ave. Rabbi A. M. Hershman of-
ficiated.
The bride chose a gown of ice
blue satin, scalloped in seed
pearls for the occasion. She was
attended by maid - of - honor
Betty Ferentz; and brides maids
Mrs. Allen E. Davis, her sister,
and Mrs. Edward J. Ferentz.
Best man was the bride-
groom's brother, Robert Gold-
man. Ushers were Irving Gold-
man and Nathan Felsenfeld.
After a wedding trip to Miami
Beach, the couple will reside at
843 Whitmore Rd.

UHS Women Slate
Review of Education

The Louis Marshall chapter
and lodge have scheduled a Hal-
loween dance on Oct. 29 at
Parkside Hall, Parkside and
Fenkell. Exhibits on the various
Bnai Brith projects will be
shown. Admission charge is a
new member.
Karl and Molly Berg are pres-
idents of the lodge and chapter
respectively. Al Goldstein is
membership chairman of the
lodge and Yetta Feuer is mem-
bership chairman of the Wo-
men's Chapter.

one who would like to submit an
exhibit too bulky for mailing is
invited to call Ingram Bander
at the UJC offices, WO. 5-3939,
and he will arrange for a pick-
up.
The UJC, which first met in
November 1899, is now responsi-
ble for accepting, holding and
disbursing money a n d other
property for charitable purposes,
and to support and encourage
the work and program of the
Jewish Welfare Federation and
its constituent agencies.
