Wineman Appointed

versary dinner of the National
Conference of Christians and
Jews, Inc., honoring Benson
Ford at Masonic Temple, Nov.
13.
The Rev, Joseph Q. Mayne,

troit Round Table, also an-
nounced the appointment of
Edgar A. Guest, noted poet, as
Catholic co-chairman.

provided the Veterans' Adminis-

The hospital's facilities have
been used by the UN - World

United States training site for
its tuberculosis control special-
ists, and physicians from _China,
India, Korea, the Philippines,
England and France have gone
there to learn latest hospital
methods.

NEW YORK — The National
Jewish Welfare Board and the
JWB-sponsored National Jewish
Youth Conference have called
on their affiliated Jewish Com-
munity Centers, Jewish youth
and young adult councils, na-
tional. Jewish youth organiza-
tions and other bodies to observe
United Nations Day, Oct. 24. -
. United Nations Day was de-
signed to serve "as a time for
taking stock of the United Na-
tions and for rededication to the
goal of effective international
cooperation and universal ad-
vancement."

Borchtcapades is the variety
show, sponsored by the Detroit
Business Men's Group of the
City of Hope, a sanitarium lo-
cated at Duarte, Calif., which is
dedicated to the treatment of
patients suffering from all dis-
eases, especially cancer a n d
tuberculosis/
Many of the performers in
this year's show are not new-
comers to Detroit. Mickey Katz
and his son, Joel Grey, are both
well known comedians in this
area. Patsy Abbott is a young
lass, who has appeared at night
clubs in the city, and has made
her reputation as a comedienne.
The song department is head-
ed by Bas Sheba, a songstress
with a cantorial voice who will
sing, among other things, "Cha-
zonishe Schticklech."
