Goldman Reelected
Bnai Brith Chief
At Triennial Parley
WASHINGTON — ( J T A ) —
Frank Goldman on March 22
was reelected national president
of Bnai Brith at the triennial
convention of the organization
which adopted a number of reso-
lutions dealing with the fight
against racial and religious dis-
crimination in this country.
One of the resolutions ap-
proved by the delegates urged
t h e enactment
of fair educa-
cation practices
laws and the
abolition of the
racial and re-
ligious quota
systems in ad-
mission require-
ments of certain
colleges. Anoth-
er resolution re-

for President Truman's full civ-
il rights program.
Goldman announced that he
will make appropriate repre-
sentations to the United States
Government and to the United
Nations to use their good of-
fices to cut off the flow of
arms to Arab countries, in ac-
cordance with a resolution
adopted at the convention.
The resolution said that if the
Arab countries continue re-
ceiving arms, Bnai Brith of-
ficials should help the people
of Israel obtain the . arms
necessary to defend themselves
against attack. The resolution
also urged that the Jerusalem
area should be maintained as
an integral ,part of. the state
of Israel.
A Jewish News reader wrote
us as follows:
"If the Mundt-Ferguson bill is
passed, such papers as yours,
which have admirably and con-
sistently fought the drive to war
by renazification of Germany
will be subject to registration,
fines and jails, according to the
whims of a few' individuals. I
urge you to join the fight to
stop this bit of police state."
Sentator Ferguson's comment
on such fears is: -
"There is no foundation for
the statement in regard to . S.
2311. It will only apply to those
who are under direct control of
the Communists and then all
that will be required is that they
state they are Communists."

resolution urging home rule for
the District of Columbia, con-

asking that it be removed as
soon as practicable. Another
resolution was approved which
urged the Senate to ratify the
United Nations Convention on

Vice President Alben W. Bark-
ley, in a speech at the conven-
tion, praised the Bnai Brith for
not only "unifying" the Jews,
but for helping to break down
the barriers of "misunderstand-
ing, bigotry an d hatred
throughout the country.
Trygve Lie, Secretary-General
of the United Nations, greeted
the convention, praising the or-
ganization for its work in behalf
of "better human relations."
