Centennial Events
Dr. B. Benedict Glazer will re-
view "The Mature Mind," Harry
Overstreet's best seller, at the
Sabbath eve services of Temple
Beth El at 8:15 p.m., Friday, Jan.
13.
Two centennial events will be
held at the Temple this month.
Tuesday evening Jan. 24, the
Men's Club will sponsor the cen-
tennial Hebrew music concert,
with Cantor Arthur Wolfson of
Temple Emanu-El, New York, as
guest artist.
On Friday, Jan. 27, Dr. Abram
L. Sachar, president of Brandies
University, will be guest speaker
at the centennial Bnai Brith
Sabbath eve service.
Dr. Benjamin Jeffries, senior
psychiatrist of the Wayne Coun-
ty Mental Health Clinic, will be
the guest speaker at the Sunday
morning breakfast club and dis-
cussion group of the Men's Club
of Temple Beth El at 10 a.m.
Sunday, Jan. 15.
On Friday, Jan. 13, the Bnai
David Friday evening gatering
will be presented as a woman's
program.
Following the brief service, a
program dedicated to the Sister-
hood and given by members of
its organization, will be present-
ed about great Jewish women.

The eighth annual laymen's
service will be observed at(
Temple Israel at 8:30 p.m,. Fri-
day, Jan. 13, in the lecture Hall
of the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Reuben Levine, vice-president
of the club and former instruc-
tor in Temple Israel High School,
will deliver •the sermon on the
subject, "A Layman Looks at Re-
form Judaism."
Participating in the reading
of the Friday night ritual will be
Charles Aller, Ellis Fishman,
Charles Goldstein, Maurice Le-
vin, Irving Levy, Herbert Mar-
golis and Irving Wartell.
At the close of the service, the
Men's Club, assisted by members
of the Sisterhood, will sponsor a
social hour.
Special music for the occasion
is being prepared by Cantor
Robert S. Tulman and Karl W.
Haas, music director. Maurice
Levin is President of the Men's
Club, which sponsors the Temple
Boy Scout Troop and Cub Packs
and extra-curricular activities
of the High School.
The Men's Club of Temple
Israel will be guests of the Men's
Club of the Brewster Pilgrim
Congregational Church at an in-
ter-faith dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Brewster
Pilgrim Church.
