Planned by Pa
That professional staff mem-
bers of Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion agencies may better under-
ture, program and philosophy of
organized community service,
the executive directors of these
agencies plan an In-Service
Training Institute, beginning
next year.
Harold Silver, chairman of
the Institute, announced that
opening sessions will be held
Jan. 14 and 15 at the Jewish
Community Center. Subsequent
meetings will be held Monday
evenings from Jan. 23 through
Feb. 20.
'Registration is open to all
professional staff members of
member agencies of the Jewish
Welfare Federation. The group
will be limited to 40 persons and
registration ends Dec. 15.
Local agency staff members
participating in the program in-
elude William Avrunin, Albert
Cohen, S. JoSeph Fauman, Gold-
le Goldstein, Bernard Isaacs,
Herman Jacobs, Boris M. Joffe,
Walter Klein, Frank Lowenberg,
Rachel Manela, Herman Mar-
gulies, Samuel Neuschatz, Mor-
ris Nobel, Selma Sampliner,
Irwin Shaw, Harold Silver, Isa-
dore Sobeloff and Harold Weiss.

LODGE, Bnai Brith, will meet at
8:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 19, at
the Rose Sittig Cohen Hall. A

Jacobs is chairthan of veterans'
affairs.

Divorcees Seek Entrance
To Israel from Poland
WARSAW (JTA) — More than
/0 cases of non-Jewish husbands
divorcing their Jewish wives,
whose lives they saved by the
Marriages during the Nazi oc-
cupation of Poland, have come
to the attention of the Israeli
consulate here. In all cases the

lin P. Hawkes has been appoint-
ed director of Fair Education
Practices by the Massachusetts
State Board of Education and
will administer the newly-en-
acted state law forbidding
schools and colleges from prac-
ticing discrimination in admit-
ting students because of race,
religion, color, creed or national
origin. A similar law is now In
effect in New York and New
Jersey.
Rabbi Maimon Denies
Discussing Sanhedrin
TEL AVIV—(JTA)—Press re-
ports claiming that his recent
visit to Europe was for the pur-
pose of discussing the formation
of a Sanhedrin with rabbis over-
seas were denied by Rabbi Judah
L. Maimon, Minister of Religion.
He emphasized that only rabbis
in Israel were competent to de-
cide on establishment of a San-
hedrin. He cited a thesis by Mai-
monides to support his conten-
tion.
