NORTHWEST HEBREW CONGREGATION: At Sabbath morning
Ira G. Kaufman has been re-
elected president of the North-
west Hebrew Congregation and
Center, at the annual election
meeting on May 16.
Other officers elected: Mau-
rice Karo and Max Goldsmith,
vice-presidents; Arthur Schultz,
secretary; Nathan R. Epstein,
treasurer; David Desow, finan-
cial secretary; David Tchor,
sergeant-at-arms.
Following are members of the
newly elected board of directors:

BETH AARON: At Sabbath morning services, Rabbi Pinchos
Katz will talk on "Blessing of Rosh Chodesh." A lecture on
"Akdomus: Author, Origin and Critical Evaluation of Text"
will be given _June 2.
TEMPLE ISRAEL. Lecture Hall, Detroit Institute of Arts, Sabbath
eve services at 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 27. Rabbi Leon Fram's
sermon topic, "The Privacy of the Synagogue." The Sisterhood
will sponsor 'a reception in honor of Confirmands and their
parents. On Friday, June 2, at 8 p.m., Confirmation services.

awarded the honorary degrees
of Doctor of Hebrew Letters
at the commencement exer-
cises of Hebrew Union College
in Cincinnati, it was an-
nounced by Dr, Nelson Glu-
eck, president of HUC. The
commencement exercises will
be held June 11.

Congregation Bnai Moshe will
begin the observance of Shev-
outh with services on Thursday,
June 3, at 7:45. Morning services
on Friday will begin at 9 and on
Saturday, when Yizkor prayers
are said, morning services will
begin at 8:30.
Rabbi Moses Lehrman will de-
liver the sermons. On Friday, he
will speak on "Life on a New
'Level;" on Saturday, "The Flight
of Time." Cantor David Katz-
man will chant the prayers.

Young Israel of- Detroit will
mark the completion of 26 years
of service to the Detroit Jew-
ish community at its 26th an-
niversary dinner, Sunday eve-
ning,. at the Mayfair..
The affair has attracted add-
ed attraction this year as Young
Israel is in the midst of con-
structing a youth center.
High point of the evening will
be the presentation of the can-
tata, "What Is Torah," by 35
members of Young Israel youth
groups.
Samuel W. Platt, vice-chair-
man of the building committee,
also • will call upon Young Israel
membership and their friends
to rally behind the building
committee in raising sufficient
funds to continue with plans for
- the erection of a second unit to
the youth center.
