Parents Tell Troth

Rabbi Leon Fram will be in Philadelphia during the weekend
of April 30 to attend the Institute on Judaism and Public Health
sponsored by the Joint Commission on Social Action of the Union
of American Hebrew Congregations and the Central Conference of
American Rabbis.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Fertel of 3290 Rochester Ave. and Mr. and
Mrs. Julius Hackman of 3042 Pasadena Ave. are on an extended
motor trip which commenced about a month ago. They have made
stops at Miami Beach, New Orleans and Mexico City, and plan to
stop at Acapulco and San Jose before they return home in three or
four weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cooper of 2640 Collingwood Ave., Mr. and

bush of 3711 Webb Ave. and Miss Lillian Eichner of Chicago Blvd.
returned from Cleveland, where they attended the wedding of Anita
Manchick, daughter of former Detroiters Mr. and Mrs. Louis Man-
Chick (Eva Mendelsohn) of Shaker Heights.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry N. Ehrlich and Miss Ilene Bennett are visit-
ing with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Bennett, in Pittsburg, Kan.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Mersky have moved from Tuxedo Ave. and
are now residing at 70 Colorado Ave.

Herbert C. Cantor has returned to the University of Michigan
after spending his spring vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

25th wedding anniversary at a family dinner party at the home of
Dr. and Mrs. Sidney 0. Siegan of Cherrylawn Ave.
Rita Lee Klein of 3288 Richton celebrated her 16th birthday at
a surprise sweet sixteen party for 45 guests April 9 at the Work-
men's Circle.
Mr. and Mrs. S. Stadler of New York City are the guests of Mr.
and Mrs. S. Nemeth of Pasadena Ave. They are being entertained
by Mr. and Mrs. H. Pokart, Mr. and Mrs. S. Knoll, Mr. and Mrs. H.
Friedman and Mr. and Mrs. H. Hirschhorn.
Wednesday, April 13, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel H. Weisman were
hosts at the first Seder to the Abraham and Sarah Weisman Family
Club. On Thursday, April 14, the Weismans entertained 12 guests
at Seder.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wineman of Hamilton Dr. and their daugh-
ter, Mrs. Eugene J. Arnfeld of Strathcona Dr., left on Saturday for
a week's visit New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo I. Franklin and their son, John, of Muirland
Ave. have left to spend 10 days visiting in Chicago, Louisville and
Cincinnati.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Welt of Whitmore Rd. are leaving this
Friday for New York, from where they will leave for a tour of
European countries and Israel.
Mrs. Robert Grier and her daughters, Lucy and Patsy, 'have
:.returned to their home in New York after a visit with Mrs. Grier's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Robinson of Chicago Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Julian G. Wolfner of Burlington Dr. have returned
from a visit in Palm Beach, Fla., and Washington, D. C.
Mrs. Nathan Sloss of Chicago is the guest of her brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Hirschman of Whitmore Rd.
Mrs. Melville Welt of Balmoral Dr. returned on Thursday from
'a visit in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Grabow of Dexter Blvd. have returned
from a stay in Miami Beach.

For Women's League
Convention in June

Publication of plans for the
League of Jewish Women's Or-
ganizations' one-day 'convention
June 9 has aroused spirited in-
terest among the women's
groups, Mrs. Samuel B. Danto,
League president, declared.
The following committee as-
fignments have been made for
the event: Mesdames Harry Beck-
er and S. B. Danto, chairmen;
Louis Glasier, Samuel Blacher,
program; Henry Green, arrange-
ments; Samuel Rhodes, hotel;
David Kliger, exhibits; Fred Gins-
burg and M. George Wayburn,
hospitality; Nathan Spevakow,
resolutions; Morton Snyder, tick-
ets and treasurer; Arthur Bloom,
religious exhibit; Maxwell Em-
mer, SOS.
An executive board meeting
to elect League officers will be
held May 19 at Mrs. Danto's
home. Mrs. Abe Srere is chair-
man of the nominating commit-
tee.
At a recent meeting of the
community relations board, the
League formally presented five
dozen teaspoons for use by the
Institute of Arts Founders So-
ciety to Isabelle Weadock, Mu-
te-urn educational director.

JNF Women Monday

Arthur Shutkin, executive di-

and Buena Vista, Mrs. I. N. Silver,
program chairman, announces.
His topic will be "How We Can
Help Israel Today."
The newest Israeli film, "A
State Is Born," will be shown.

Neugarten Fete Features
Talk on 'How to Be Happy'

"How to be Happy in a Con-
fused World" is the topic selected
by Dr. B. Benedict Glazer of
Temple Beth El, for discussion at
the next Neugarten Medical Aid
meeting, to be held at the Jewish
Community Center Monday,
April 25.
The meeting will follow des-
sert luncheon, which will be
served at 1 p.m.

MISS PRISCILLA BIRNHOLTZ

Mr. and Mrs. A. Birnholtz an-
nounce the engagement of their
daughter, Priscilla, to Milton
Solomon, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel Solomon.
Miss Birnholtz attended Wayne
University and Michigan State
College. Her fiance is a graduate,
of Wayne U. and will soon receive
his master's degree in clinical
psychology at Michigan State.
The couple plans to be married
on June 19.

Men's Clubs

HARRY B. KEIDAN LODGE
of Bnai Brith is planning the last
of three monthly visits to the
Dearborn Veterans Hospital for
Wednesday evening, April 27. As
on the two previous visits, the
veterans will be entertained by
Mickey Woolf and his organiza-
tion, and will receive gifts of
candy, cigars and cigarettes from
the members of the lodge, their
wives and friends. Five of the
non-ambulatory patients will be
surprised with special birthday
parties in their honor. Morris
Direnfeld is president of Keidan
Lodge. Harold Moran is chairman
of the veterans committee.

Mrs. Seltzer to Address
Women's Council Monday

The American Affairs Commit-
tee of Detroit Section, National
Council of Jewish Women, will
present a discussion of the United
Nations by Mrs. Lawrence Selt-
zer, at its meeting, at the home
of Dr. Irving Shulak, 3394 Sher-
bourne Road, next Monday, at
12:45 p.m. "Destination, Mental
Health," the new program in the
organization which started this
spring also will be discussed.

Leah Biskin Guest
Of Pioneer Women

On Tuesday, April 26, Leah Bis-
kin, guest from Israel, will ad-
dress an open meeting of Pioneer
Women Clubs at the Labor Zion-
ist Institute, 13722 Linwood. On
Wednesday, she will meet with
the Council of Pioneer Women
and Poale-Zion groups. She also
will visit Flint 'and Toledo.
Leah Biskin, a Detroiter who
spent 14 years in Israel, working
in the offices of the Moatzot
Hapoalot, sister organization of
the Pioneer Women in America
and in the Histradrut, during the
last two years worked in Italy,
liquidating the DP camps and
helping to transfer them to Is-
rael.
She was instrumental in organ-
izing the Pioneer Women in De-
troit, and served as the first na-
tional secretary of Pioneer. Wo-
men in the U. S. and Canada.
She is returning to Israel on May
7th.
She comes from a prominent
Labor Zionist family who lived
in Detroit for many years and
who are now residents of Wash-
ington, D.C.
