Patriotic Defense Conference

J. W. V. executive board meeting.
The auxiliary will hold its regu-
lar meeting Tuesday, March 1, at -
the home of Mrs. Grace Hart,
1656- W. Boston, fro:in 1 to 4 p.m.-
to plan a benefit partyfor refugee
children in. Europe and Africa.
A dessert luncheon will be served.

have a birthday party celebrating

ILIARY party, "Hats off, Hats
on," March 10 at the Northwest
Synagogue. At that time a men's

Shop. Members will try their
hands at designing hats and the
most humorous or unusual chap-
eau will receive a prize, chairman
Gertrude Hertzberg announced.

writings, were declared to be
"not an important discovery, but
possibly a hoax," by Dr. Solomon
Zeitlin, professor of Rabbinical
literature at Dropsie College.
Dr. Zeitlin, one of the world's
leading authorities on the Second
Commonwealth, the era preceed-
ing the time of Jesus, made this
charge in an article, "A Commen-
tary on the Book of Habakkuk-
Important Discovery . of Hoax,"
appearing in the current issue of
Jewish Quarterly Review pub-
lished by Dropsie College.

Hillel—the center of-Jewish ac-
tivity at the University of Mich-
igan. It is here; as at other foun-
dations scattered country-wide,
sponsored by Bnai Brith, that
Jewish students . take part in re
ligious, ,cultural, and social func-
tions under the able supervision,
at Ann Arbor, of Rabbi. Hershell
Lymon, formerly affiliated with
Temple_ Beth El, and Mrs. Frieda
Davidson: '
Every Friday night services are
held in the chapel. The several
Jewish fraternities are now con-
ducting the services and.this Sab-
bath we'll find Sigma Alpha Mu's
Dale Boesky at the Bimah.
For Passover, Hillel will hold
its sedorim and will serve kosher
meals to : the students.
In its new home on Hill Street,
Hillel offers a vast selection of
recordings for musical enjoyment,
a complete library, a study hall
and reading room and the indis-
pensible recreation room and
lounge. In typical apache dress,
our- folk attended a danCe - last
Saturday evening where they sip-
ped cokes over red and white-
checkered tablecloths. I
Very soon the foundation will
present its annual riotous variety
show of skits prepared by groups
of students, "Hillelzapoppin."
Some of the major holidays offer,
gala affairs as the coming' Purim
masquerade, the Sukkot Harvest
Dance and the Hanukah Carnival.
Sunday afternoon forums draw
Hillel's members to discuss cur-
