they attended the board of directors meeting of the state Federation

All-Day Schools Report f Plans Winter Nuptials

The total enrollMent in the
J.wish all-day schools in the
country at the beginning of the
year 1949, according to a study
just completed by the Depart-
ment of Research of the Ameri-
can Association for Jewish Ed-
ucation, was 18,397. Announce-
ment of the study was made by
Michael A. Stavitsky; president
of the association.
This enrollment represents a
15.0 Per cent increase in regis-
tration over that in 1946, when
the latest study on enrollment in
all-day schools was made by the
Association. Of the total all-day
school enrollment 13,263 or 72.1
per cent were boys and 5,134 or
27.9 per cent were girls.
New York City schools claimed
the major share in the enroll-
ment; 12,601 pupils or 69.1 per
cent; and the other cities 5,796 or
30.9 per cent.
There are today in the coun-
try at least 120 all-day types of
schools: 66 schools or 55.9 per
cent are found in New York City
and 53 schools or 44.1 per cent in
42 cities and Washington, D. C.
Of the cities other than New
York, Baltimore reported four
schools; Chicago and 'Phila-
delphia each reported 3 all-day
schools; Los Angeles, Dorchester,
Detroit, Cleveland and Pitts-
burgh reported each 2 all-day
schools; the remaining 35 cities
had each one school. The cities
are distributed over 17 states.

Group is beginning work on an
original musical comedy, written
by Mrs. Benjamin Fishman, to
be .given in the early fall.
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah will
celebrate the seventh year of
residence in its own building at
Dexter and Cortland at its Torah
Day program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday s
March 6, at the Yeshivath.
At the same time, dedication
ceremonies will be held for the
annex hall for advanced students-,
located across Dexter from the
main building.
Rabbi S. P. Wohlgelernter of
Chicago, brother of the Yeshivah's
president, Rabbi Max J. Wol-
