ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Continuing a
family tradition that has aroused
nationwide interest, Nathan She-
ver, former Detroiter, Sunday
night announced a gift of $50,000
for projects in Israel, their nature
to be designated later. This sum -

National Fund and the United
Jewish Appeal.
Shever's brother, 'Morris L.
Schaver of Detroit, five years ago
gave $50,000 for Palestine, and
this fund has since been boosted
to close to $100,000 for the erec-
tion of the Library at Beit Berl
—the institute for the training of
diplomats functioning near Tel*
Aviv, in memory of the late Berl
Katznelson.
Like his brother's, Shever's gift
was made on the. occasion of his
50th birthday. Announcement of
the handsome contribution was
made Sunday night at the annual
gathering which marked the
opening of the Israel Histadrut
Campaign of St. Louis of which
Nathan Shever is general chair-
man. Isaac Hamlin, executive sec-
retary of the National Committee
for Labor Israel, was the speaker
at Sunday's gathering here at the
Chase Hotel and Saul Meisels
was the soloist.
Born in Warsaw, Shever was
brought to the United States in
1.914 by his brother Morris. He
was married in Detroit on Sept.
