Young Israel Intensifies
Building Fund Drive;
Midwest Meetings On

In an effort to erect its youth
center as quickly as possible,
Young Israel " of Detroit has
launched an intensive building
drive. Teams are being organized
which will contact all trades,
professions, services and organi-
zations.
The first captains are: Herman
K. Cohen, Arthur Gellman, Mor-
ris H. Berris, Maurice Harris,
Hyman Moore, Leon Mutchnik,
Isaac Knoppow, Irving Schlussel,
Sam Novetsky and Seymour Wal-
fish.
The 18th annual midwestern
convention of Young Israel is
being held at the Hotel Midland,
Chicago, this week-end. Repre-
sentatives from Chicago, Cin-
cinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Kan-
sas City and St. Louis will par-

parents on Hanukah is planned
by the Bnai Moshe Religious
School for four consecutive Sun-
day mornings beginning Dec. 5.
Walter Farber, director of the
religious school, plans to correlate
the school's education with the

The Hanukah Institute will
meet at four sessions of two hours
each. The first session will open
with an analysis of the signif-
icance of Hanukah by Rabbi
Moses Lehrman. The parents will
be taught Hanukah games, hear
a review of children's books and
receive suggestions for Hanukah
gifts.
The second session will be de-
voted to learning the preparation
of Hanukah foods.
The third session will be de-
voted to Hanukah table decora-
tions, preparation of Hanukah fa-
vors and gift wrappings.
The final session will take the
form of a Hanukah party.

The motion picture "The Dib-
buk" based on an old Jewish folk
story, will be shown by the Com-
mittee on Taharas Hamishpochah
of Detroit Council of Orthodox
Rabbis at its annual film night,
Saturday, Dec. 4, and Sunday,
Dec. 5. The picture is in Yiddish
with English subtitles.
The second feature is "Sons of
Liberty" in technicolor, the story
of Haym Solombri and his con-
tribution, to the American Revolu-
tion. • -
