Pioneer Women's Detroit Conclave

Robert R. Nathan, eminent
economist, authority on Pales-
tine's industrial needs, will ad-
dress the dinner of the Detroit
Central Committee of the Labor
Zionist Organization of America
on Monday evening at Hotel Stat-
ler. Morris Lieberman will pre-
side.
Recently Nathan has concerned
himself with the economic poten-
tialities of Palestine and Eretz
Israel's absorptive capa -4- y for
immigration of Jews. He made a
presentation of his findings to the
recent American and British Joint
Board of Inquiry. He is co-author
of "Palestine: Problem and Prom-
published by the Public Af-
fairs Press.
In addition to the arrangements
for this dinner, which will be
open to the public, the Detroit
Central Committee of the Labor
Zionist Organization has made
plans for a large program of ac-
tivities in Detroit. Among future
visitors and speakers to come
here under its sponsorship is Berl
Locker, British member of the
Jewish Agency for Palestine.

Representatives of Pioneer
Women's Organizations from four
states in this area will attend the
two-day conference this Saturday
and Sunday, at the Detroit-Leland
Hotel.
Mrs. Alexander Orkin of Cleve-
land is chairman of the region.
Delegates will represent 29
clubs in Michigan, Ohio, Tennes-
see and Western Pennsylvania.
The formal opening of the con-
ference will be held in the main
ballroom of the hotel at a lunch-
eon on Saturday, Oct. 19, at which
the 21st anniversary of the Pio-
neer Women's Organization will
be celebrated.
Business sessions will begin
early Saturday morning and will
continue throughout the latter
part of the afternoon and eve-
ning. and all day Sunday.

Mrs. Israel Goldstein, of the
Pioneer Women's Organization
National praesidium will lead in
most of the discussions.
Mrs. Jacob Schreier, president
of the Detroit council, is chair-
man of the conference.
Detroit offices of Pioneer Wom-
en's Organization are located at •
9142 Linwood. There are eight
chapters in Detroit, and a central
Council of all groups. Mrs. Jacob
Schreier is president of the Coun-
cil. Mrs. David Sislin is publicity
chairman for the Council.
During the past year, the De-
troit Council raised $60,000 for
the Working Women's Council of •
Palestine and the Child Rescue
Fund.
Detroit's groups were hosts to
two national conventions, in 1930
and 1942.
