ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

S 1/c Marvin Jacobs has returned to his post at Great Lakes
Naval Training Center after spending the week-end with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Jacobs of Glynn Ct. On Saturday
they attended the graduation of his sister, Judy, from the University
of Michigan.
Lee Marks, son of Mr. and Mrs.. J. J. Marks of Broadstreet
Blvd., left on Thursday for Camp Kawaga; Minacqua, Wis., to
spend the summer.
Mrs. Peter Vass and daughter, Alice, of the Wilshire Hotel are
spending the summer in their home Peterhaven on Lake Shore
Blvd., near Lexington, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Philips and son, Perry, of Calvert Ave. left
on Wednesday for New Baltimore where they will spend the
summer.
Mrs. Hedwig Peritz of Burlingame Ave., her daughter, Mrs.
Bernhardt Salomon, and her son and daughter-in-law. Mr. and
Mrs. Herbert Peritz, left by plane for Los Angeles where they
will spend a few weeks.
Robert and Ronald Segar, sons of 'Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Segar of Birchcrest Dr:, have left to spend the summer at Camp
Strongheart, Wis.
Robert Morrison of LaSalle Blvd. left on Sunday for Cleve-
land where he will assume his duties as assistant professor of social
work at Western Reserve University. Mrs. Morrison (Nathalie
Marwil) and their small daughter, Rosalie, will join him later.
Mrs. Nathan Brotman of Toronto, who was in Miami Beach
for the winter months, is the guest of her son-in-law and daugh-
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Weisman of Calvert Ave.
Dr. and Mrs. Jack Kimelman of Ann. Arbor are spending 10
days at Lake George, N. Y.
Mrs. Louis Cohane of Highland Ave. has -returned from a short
stay in Chicago.
Mrs. Norman Weisman and her daughter, Virginia, who
made their home with Mrs. Weisman's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Benjamin D. Lieberman of Chicago Blvd., while Mr. Weisman was
serving with the U. S. Navy, have returned to their home in
Dayton. Morton Lieberman, who accompanied his sister to Day-
ton, has returned home after a week's stay.
Mrs. Lyle Rogers and her small son, Harry, has returned to
her home in Muskegon after a week's visit with her mother, Mrs.
Harry Bierberstein of - Merton Rd.
Mrs. Etta Cohen has returned to her home in Toronto after
a fortnight's visit with Mrs.. Herman Wetsman of Chicago Blvd.
Seymour Kite of Roselawn Ave. and Lou Rycus of Canterbury
Rd. have returned from a few weeks' stay in California.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar A. Colten and their sons, Harry and Rich-
ard of Jackson Heights; L. I., spent a few days with Mr. Colten's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morse Colten of Rochester Ave., enroute to
San Francisco where they plan to make their home.
Expected home this Sunday are Lt. Alfred Shevin, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Irving J. Shevin of Parkside Ave., Lt. Richard Cohen,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cohen of Sturtevant Ave., and Lt. Stan-
ley Gordon Dorfman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Dorfman of
Fullerton Ave. All three, who have been friends for some time,
have been in service for 31/2 years, were stationed together in
Guam for about 11/2 years and arrived in San Francisco on the
same boat.
Mrs. S. A. Jacobs of Glynn Ct. is spending the summer in
Chatanooga, Tenn., with relatives and friends.

Philippines' Highest Award
Goes To Col. Julius Klein
CHICAGO, (JTA)—Col. Julius
Klein, of Chicago, special assist-
ant to Secretary of War Patter-
son, has been awarded the Phil-
ippine Distinguished Service Star,
highest decoration of the Philip-
pine Government. Col. Klein
served in the Pacific for three
years before being assigned to
the War Department position.

Jacob Sincoff, UJA Leader
Leaves for Europe, Palestine
NEW YORK, (JTA) — Jacob
Sincoff, national co-treasurer of
the United Jewish Appeal, sailed
on the Queen Mary to visit Eur-
ope and Palestine to see at first
hand how funds raised for the
relief, rehabilitation and reset-
tlement of the Jewish survivors
overseas are being expended.
