'ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mr. and Mrs. K. Seltzer and family and Mr. and Mrs. H. Rubin
and family of St. Louis, Mo., will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. S.
Rubin of 16595 Washburn to attend the marriage of the latter's
daughter, Rose.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert M. Jordon have as their guests Mrs. Her-
man Brown of Chicago and Mrs. Charles Greenberg, of Cleveland, 0.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bakerman have returned from a two weeks'
'trip to Philadelphia and Atlantic City.
Mrs. Arnold Kaichen of Cincinnati is spending the summer
with her son, and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kaichen
of Huntington Woods.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Weisman and their daughter, Nancy, of
Suffolk Dr. returned on Tuesday from Cleveland where they
participated in the festivities in connection with the announcement
of the engagement of Miss Kathleen Blau to their son, Miller
Mrs. Lester Seasongood of St. Louis has been visiting with her
many friends for the last few weeks.
Dr. and Mrs. B. Benedict Glazer and their daughter, Stephanie,
left on Monday for Atlantic City where they plan to spend the
summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Levin of Strathcona Dr. spent the last
week-end in Cleveland.
Mrs. Henry. Soss and daughter, Ellen, of Balmoral Rd. have
left for New York from where Ellen will go on to camp.
Mrs. 'Isaac Gilbert of Boston Blvd. and her sisters, Mrs. Harry
L. Newman of Lawrence Ave. and Miss Laura Lowell of New
York, have left for Chitarlevoix where they will spend the summer
months.
Sally Brown, who attends Vassar College in Poughkeepsie,
N. Y., is spending the summer vacation with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Douglas I. Brown of Lucerne Dr.
Lt. David Crohn, who has been stationed at Camp Upton, N. Y.,
since his return last fall from overseas, is now on terminal leave
and at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Crohn of
Wildemere Ave.
Janet and Linda Newman, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
J. Newman of Canterbury Rd., have left for Tripp Lake Camp, Me.,
where they will spend the summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Gilbert of Arden Pk. have left for
Charlevoix where they will 'spend the summer months.
Mrs. M. M. Goldrich has returned to her home in Cleveland
after a weekts visit with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and 1W -s
William Fleischman of Whitmore Rd.
Miss Edna Welling has returned to her home in Petoskey, Mich.,
after a few days' visit with relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew B. Lorre and their small son, Larry, of
Kentucky Ave. are spending the summer at Lake Orion, Mich.
They have as their guest Mrs. Lorre's mother, Mrs. A. L. Einhorn,
who recently arrived from Belgium.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schlessinger of Boston Blvd. are spend-
ing the summer months in Charlevoix.
Dr. and Mrs. S. E. Gould of Dearborn have left to spend a few
weeks in Los Angeles, San Francisco and the Yosemite.
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Lasky of Miami Beach, Fla., are spending
the summer in Detroit and are guests at the Lee Plaza Apt.
Complimenting her niece, Miss Marion R. Bailies, whose mar-
riage to Phillip •Agree of Flint will be an event of July 14, Mrs.
Irving L. Shevin of Parkside Ave. gave a luncheon for 140 guests
at the Knoll-wood Country Club last Friday.

and Mrs. Joseph Gootman of
Cincinnati, 0., announce the mar-
riage of their daughter, Aviva,
to Rabbi Jay Kaufman, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Hiram David Kauf-
man of 17375 Monica Dr., on June
2, at the Wilshire Hotel. Rabbi
Leon Fram officiated.
The bride is a graduate of the
University of Cincinnati, where
she received her Bachelor of Arts
degree, and recently was grad-
uated from the University of
Pittsburgh with a Master of Sci-
ence degree. At present she is
director of junior activities at
the Jewish Community Center
and director of the Center Day
Camp.
Rabbi Kaufman, was graduated
from WItstern Reserve University
and was ordained by Hebrew
Union College in Cincinnati on
June 22.

BOXMAN-C HERWI N. The
marriage of Miss Norma Cher-
win, daughter of Mrs. Gertrude
Chervinsky of Euclid Ave., and
Frank Boxman, son of Jacob Box-
man of Webb Ave., was solemn-
ized Sunday evening, June 23,
at the Wilshire Hotel. Rabbi Rab-
inowitz performed the ceremony
in the presence of the immediate
families. Mr. and Mrs. Boxman
are honeymooning in Virginia

versary of the signing of the
United Nations' Charter, on June
26, 1945, the American Jewish
Committee announces that it is
publishing a book titled, "With
Firmness in the Right: A Century
of American Diplomatic Action
Affecting Jews, 1840-1945," by
Cyrus Adler and Aaron M. Mar-
galith.
