Asher • Itzkowitz, 75, for 28
years superintendent and secre-
tary of Chesed shel Emes, died
May 14 in Harper Hospital. He
was a resident of Detroit for 40
years.
One of the organizers of Chesed
shel Emes, he devoted himself
to the needs of this institution of
which he was considered the
spiritual leader. He also was as-
sociated with Congregations Beth
Abraham and Ahavath Achim.
An overflow assembly attended
the funeral services which were
held May 15. Rabbis Joseph
Thumin and Isaac Stoliman and
Cantor R. Boyarsky officiated.
There were addresses by Sam-
uel Brezner, president, Mrs. Ida
Solomon, president of the Ladies'
Auxiliary, Abraham H. Jaffin,
executive director, and Louis
Shiell, - chairman.
Surviving are his wife, Lena;
two sons, Dr. Irving I. Edgar and
Cantor Erin Edgar of Omaha;
four daughters, Mrs. Sadie Esko,
Mrs. Rose Gold, Mrs. Irving Klu-
min and Mrs. Tillie Knopper; 12
grandchildren and one great-
grandchild.
Resolutions paying tribute to
his memory were adopted by the
Chesed shel Emes.
