of Yeshivath Chachmey Lublin.

$250 to $1,000, assist in support-
ing the institution of higher
Torah learning in Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Solai have
raised their sponsors' pledge from
$500 to $1,000.
An appeal has been issued to
the community by Chachmey
Lublin to participate in the
sponsors' fund.
"The Yeshivah Bochur" radio
program is sponsored by Chach-
mey Lublin on Saturday nights
at 8:35 over the Altman Hour on
Station WJLB. "The Voice of the
Yeshivah" broadcast is carried
by Weinberg's Hour on Station
WJBK at 11:45 a. m. on Sundays.
The Yeshivah's Ladies' Aux-
iliary extends an invitation to
Detroit Jews to attend the Purim
get-together with the rabbis and
students at 3:30 p. m. Sunday at
the Yeshivah, Linwood and Elm-
hurst. Samuel Kaplan, . "The
Yeshivah Bochur," is coming
from New York to entertain at
this event. Purim refreshments
will be' served.
Temple Israel Pupils
Hold Purim Program
Saturday, Sunday
"Russia-4s She' Victim . or Ag-
gressor?" will be the subject of
the lecture to be delivered by
Rabbi Leon Fram at the Sabbath
Eve service of Temple Israel,
Friday night, March 22, at 8:30,
in the Lecture Hall of the De-
troit Institute of Arts.
This Sunday at 9:30 a. m., pupils
of the fourth and fifth grades
of the Religious School will hold
their Purim masquerade. The
children . will come in costumes
and will see a Purim play, play
Purim games, and partake of
Purim refreshments. The play,
"Shushan Time", is directed by
Rosemary Emmer. The cast in-
cludes Devera Modell, Beth
Rothenberg, Emily Schultz, Ros-
lyn Brose, Stewart Pernick, Nor-
man Folbe, Jack Bagdade, Larry
Charfoos and Rhea Rubenstein.
On Sunday, March 24, the kin-
dergarten and primary grade
children will hold their Purim
masquerade.
The Confirmation department
will hold parties and see the per-
formance of a Purim play this
Saturday morning. The play,
"Merry Purim", is directed by
Bette Weinberg. The cast in-
cludes Sam Freshman, Bobby
Becker, Johnny 'Sheppard, San-
ford Laikin, Haneley Gurwin,
Marvin Sternberg, Judy Segal,
Aviva Freedman, Linda Fuller,
Betsy Brown, Carol Tanner and
Leila Shapiro.
Members of the con.gregation
will come with their children to
the special Purim Sabbath Eve
service 'this Friday night.
Shaarey Zedek Pupils
To Celebrate Purim
At Assemblies Sunday
Shaarey Zedek Sunday School
pupils will celebrate Purim this
Sunday morning at several as-
semblies. At the assemblies for
high school students the Megillah
will be read by Jacob Epel with
Richard Sanders as the narrator.
Cantor J. H. Sonenklar will lead
in the singing of Purim songs.
Rabbi Gershon G. Rosenstock
will address the 10:30 a. rn. as-
sembly and Rabbi Morris Adler
the noon assembly of high school
students. Daniel Levin and Ed-
win Lewissohn will speak on the
Present-Day Significance of Pur-
im, while Franklin Sidlow and
Barbara Sommers will explain
Purim ceremonials and customs.
Norman Drachler will be chair-
man of the high school assem-
blies.
Hamantashen will be distribut-
ed by the Sisterhood.
Special assemblies also will be
Held for the elementary and in-
termediate grades. A puppet
show will be staged by Florence
Lipshitz and M. Kesner. Arlene
Shulman of the 5th grade will
speak on the importance of Pur-
im. There will be community
singing and recitations.
Junior Congregation's
Purim Event at Shaarey
Zedek on Saturday Night
Young people of Shaarey
Zedek and their friends are pre-
paring for a gala celebration of
Purim this Saturday night ; in
the social hall of Shaarey Zedek,
under -the direction of the Junior .
Congregation.
In addition to dancing and re-
freshments, a Purim skit will Le
staged.
An invitation has been extend-
ed to all - high school students of
Shaarey -Zedek and their friends
to attend.

Purim Dinner Thursday
Ben Fellows, chairman, an-
nounces that arrangements have
been completed for the annual
Purim dinner to be given by the
Men's Club of Cong. Bnai David,
in the social hall of the Syna-
gogue, next Thursday evening.
Cantor Hyman J. Adler will
render appropriate musical selec-
tions. Rabbi Joshua S. Sperka
will relate the story of Purim.

Plan Masquerade Party
Originality and Jewish content
will mark the masquerade party
at Bnai Moshe at 2 p. m. this Sun-
day. Students have been urged to
make their own costumes. Bibli-
cal characters, as well as those of
popular periods in Jewish history,
may be used as themes by the
masqueraders. Prizes are offered
for the best costumes.

Friday services will be held at
6 p.m.; Sabbath and Purim ser-

Maariv services at 6 p.m., Satur-
day.- The reading of the Megillah
will take place at 7 p.m., Satur-
day.
