On July 17 Program
The Jewish Center, Woodward
at Holbrook, is presenting a series
of Motion Picture Nights regular-
ly on Tuesday nights through
July and August.
The program for July 17, in-
cludes "Western Front," a film
depicting China's plight and
heroic fight. Also on this pro-
gram will be shown "Here Is
China".
Movie programs are held in the
outdoor court at the Center, and
begin at 9:15 p. m. Admission is
free.

WASHINGTON—Shortly after
assuming his new office of Sec-
retary of State, James F. Byrnes
announced the appointment of
Benjamin V. Cohen as his speci-
al assistant. The appointment is
temporary.
Cohen 'was associated with Mr.
Byrnes as chief counsel when
the latter was director of the
Office of War Mobilization and
Reconversion.
Occasionally referred to as
"the Young Brandeis", Cohen
has been - associated with the
Government in various high
positions for more than 12 years.
He was an active participant in
the Dumbarton Oaks Confer-
ence last winter.

To Join Political Parties
BUCHAREST, (JTA)—The ex-
istence of the Jewish Party or any
other Jewish political group is
no longer warranted since Jews
in Romania can now join any
political party they desire, Prof.
-N icolas Constantinescu, Ro-
manian propaganda minister, de-
clared in the influential daily,
Romania Libera.
He pointed out. that for "old,
honest democrats in Romania
there never existed a Jewish
problem, but only an anti-Semitic
problem and a Zionist problem,
since they never considered the
Jews as being apart from the
general population."

specifically instructed not to per-
mit any obstacles to break the
free channeling of relief, rescue
and rehabilitation.
The Vaad Hatzala is the or-
ganization which helped rescue

brought them to safety in -neu-
tral countries.
Mrs. Kramer, Dr. Fine
To Address Center
Groups July 17, 18
The Jewish Community Center
will present Mrs. Myrtle_ Kramer
and Dr. Edward Fine in a dis-
cussion on problems and diffi-
culties pertaining to modern day
living, as specifically applied to
girls and young women.
Mrs. Kramer, who will appear
on Tuesday evening, is a grad-
uate of Ohio State University as
a social worker, a member of
the American Association for
Social Work and an officer in
the American Association for
Medical Social Workers. As a
case work supervisor and con-
sultant with the Department of
Public Welfare for 10 years, Mrs.
Kramer was ' instrumental it
helping to secure higher stand-
ards. At present she is employ-
ed as the Supervisor of Social
Service at Receiving Hospital.
All girls, 16 to 22, are invited
to meet with Mrs. Kramer.
On Wednesday night, girls of
22 and over are invited to meet
with Dr. Fine who is psychiatric
consultant to the McGregor
Health Foundation and to the
American Red Cross. He is a
graduate of Wayne University
Medical School; member of the
American Medical Associion,
Michigan Society of Neurology
and Psychiatry a n d Detroit
Chapter of the American Associa-
tion of Neurologists and Psych-
iatrists.
All women of the community
are invited to attend these ses-
sions without charge.
