'Adopted' Youngsters
CINCINNATI, (JTA)—An ap-
peal to Christians to return to
Jewish communities the Jewish
children they sheltered during
the Nazi occupation was made
public -here by the Central Con-
ference of American Rabbis. The
appeal, which was adopted at
the recent meeting of the Con-
ference in Atlantic City, reads
as follows:
"In order to save many Jew-
ish children and to keep them
out of the clutches of the Nazis,
it was necessary to train them
in another faith. Now that the
Nazi terror has gone we trust
that individuals and institutions
will return them to their Jewish
parents if alive or to Jewish
communities and facilitate their
return to the Jewish fold."

Temple Israel has become a
member of the Rabbinical Pen-
sion Plan sponsored by the Cen-
tral Conference of American
Rabbis and the Union of Amer-
ican Hebrew Congregations.
The plan was established last
year through a gift by the late
Jacob H. Schiff and contributions
by the CCAR and UAHC.
The pension plan has been
more than 50 years in the mak-
ing.
While this present plan is
limited to Reform Rabbis whose
,congregations are UAHC mem-
bers, it is hoped that the example
of the Reform Temples soon will
be followed by Orthodox and
Conservative congregations. Ac-
cording to the plan premiums
are paid by the congregation, the
Rabbi himself, the CCAR and
UAHC.
Temple Israel is also studying
a plan for pensions for members
of its office staff and all its other
employees.
