Miss Litvin to Wed

Cpl. Mort Segall, who is on furlough from George Field,
Illinois, is visiting his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Baskin of Cherrylawn Ave.

Women's Bnai Brith Council
Hears Reports at Installation

The Women's Michigan Council
of Bnai Brith culminated its all
day sessions at Webster Hall, last
Sunday with a banquet at which
Sidney Kussworm, Dayton at-
torney and national treasurer of
Bnai Brith, was guest speaker.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wertheimer of 18465 Parkside Ave. an-
nounce the graduation of their daughter, Lois Russine, from North-
western University. Miss Wertheimer was vice president of the
Student War Council, president of the Northwestern Unaffiliated
Student Organization, vice president of the Red Cross and execu-
tive in charge of organizations on the Student Governing Board,
for which service she was awarded a key. In addition, she was in
charge of many campus drives and affairs. Mr. and Mrs. Wert-
heimer will hold open house in her honor from 7 to 10 p. m. on
Saturday, June 16.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Gottloeb of 19316 Warrington have
returned from New Orleans, La., and Biloxi, Miss., where they
visited their son, Pvt. Bud Gottloeb, who is stationed at Keesler
Field, Miss.

Participants in the operetta "Ruth," staged on May 27, at the
Shaarey Zedek, during the Hag Bikkurim festival, included the
folowing Shaarey Zedek students: Geraldine Carson, Adell Abrom-
ovich, Maxine Margolin, Sydell Halberg, Rosalind Levitt, Erma
Levitt, Madeline Palmer, Norma Seidon, Lenore Freedman, Esther
Saulson, Beverly Weiner, Bernice Tauber, Natalie Diamond, Sandra
Goldberg, Leatrice Aaron, Lillian Leiderman, Madeline Wolrauch,
Edith Weiss, Dorothy Beitman, Sylvia- Goldstick, Geraldine Stas-
hefsky, Corinne Paris, Marilyn Krouse and Judith Heyman.
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Levenberg have moved from Webb Ave.
to 18674 Fairfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fenster of 2301 Richton will have open
house from 6 to 10 p. m. Sunday in honor of their son-in-law, Lt.
Harold Baigon, USAAF, who has just returned from overseas after
completing 56 missions over enemy territory. Lt. Baigon has been
awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with three
oak leaf clusters and wears the ETO ribbon with three battle stars.
After his 30-day leave, Lt. and Mrs. Baigon will leave for Miami
Beach, Fla., where Lt. Baigon will await reassignment.
Lt. and Mrs. Harold Hoffman have returned to Denver, Colo.,
after spending their leave at the home of their mother, Mrs. Samuel
Shapiro. During their visit here, they were entertained by relatives
and friends.
In honor of Miss Beatrice Heller, whose marriage to Norman
Ellstein will be performed on June 17 at the Bnai Moshe, a bridal
shower was given May 29 by her sister, at a dinner served at
Lachar's for 100 guests. The bride-elect also was feted by the aunts
of the bridegroom. A shower and luncheon was given May 8 at the
Wilshire by Mrs. Norman Fealk, Mrs. P. Sklover and Mrs. Ben
Sklover. Mrs. Jack Ellstein and Mrs. David Cohen entertained at
a shower and dinner at the Wilshire.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Shapit and daughter, Lee, have left for
Staunton, Va., to attend the graduation of their son, Ivan, from
Staunton Military Academy.
Miss b etty Rachel Minus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip
Minus of Burlingame Ave., upon her graduation from Central High
School will leave for Camp Livingstone, Ohio, to take up her
duties as counselor for the summer.
Mrs. Evelyn Gold entertained 75 guests at a shower at the
Wilshire, in honor of Eve Gross' approaching marriage to Harvey
-Rosenberger.
Lt. Melvin S. Moss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Moss of 18281
Pennington Drive, is home on leave. After visiting with his par-
ents for 18 days, he will return to the Las Vagas Army Airfield,
Las Vagas, Nev., where he is stationed as a Post Exchange Officer.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl S. Schiller of Woodingham Drive will be
hosts at a reception at the Belcrest Hotel, Wednesday, June 29, 8 to
12 p. m., on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary. No cards.
Lillian and Ruth Klau, twins, of 3804 Elmhurst, celebrated
their 16th birthday at a house party.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Singer will be at home to their family
and friends on Saturday, from 8 to 10 p. m., in honor of their
daughter, Arlene Roberta, who is leaving for the Waves Training
School at Hunter College, New York.
Pfc. Al Raider, a liberated German prisoner of war, now is at
the home of his sister, Mrs. N. Rothenberg, 2654 Elmhurst Ave.

Mr: and Mrs. Herman Litvin of
Woodingham Drive announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Anita, to Pfc. Sam Faigenbaum,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Faigen-
baum of Pingree Ave.

Miss Litvin and Pfc. Faigen-
baum are graduates of Central
High school.
Pfc. Faigenbaum has just re-
turned from 18 months overseas
duty in Germany.
The wedding is scheduled for
July 22.

CARD OF THANKS
The family of the late Louis
Rosenberg wishes to extend their
sincerest gratitude to all those
who were so kind to them dur-
ing their recent bereavement.

Mr. Kussworm reported that
more than 62,000 members were
blood donors; that $825,000 has
been contributed to Red Cross;
that eight million packages of
cigarets were sent overseas and
that more than $500,000 and 2,000
service kits have been contrib-
uted for servicemen.
He also told of the work of the
National Committee of Christians
and Jews and that the organiza-
tion has allocated $2,000,000 "to
fight anti-Semitism."
Morton Davis reported on the
work of the Detroit and state
lodges and auxiliaries, particu-
larly on the activities for the
benefit of the servicemen at
Percy Jones Hospital and Ft.
Custer.
The newly elected Women's
Council officers are: president,
Marcella Steuben of South Haven;
vice presidents, Libbie Hersh,
East Side Group; Mrs. Tarnoff of
the Theodore Hertzel Women,
Wyandotte; recording and corre-
sponding secretary, Rita Fisher,
East Side Group; and monitress,
Lillian Aaron, outgoing president
who was recently elected to the
General Committee of Detroit
Grand Lodge 6 as was Mollie

Banks of Louis Marshall Women.
Sally Fields was re-appointed
state publicity chairman and
editor of the Women's Michigan
Council Bulletin.
The quota in the current bond
drive for the council has nearly
been reached.
The South Haven women have
v
their quota of $5,000 by
over $7,000
$7,000 and the Louis Mar-
shall Women have more than
doubled their original assign-
ment of $75,000.
