From Private in 1941

promotion of Lt. Jack B. Brenner
to the rank of captain. He is
now in Germany. Entering ser-

1941, as a pri-
vate, he w a s
commissioned at
the Ft. Benning
Infantry School
in 1942.
He is connect-
ed with the
\Combat Mili-
tary Police and
has been over-

African, Sicilian and Italian
campaigns.
He participated in the drive
through Southern France after
spending two months on the
Anzio Beachhead.

of Northwestern High. He was
well known at the Jewish Center
and will be remembered for his

was graduated from Ohio State

Miss Stein's background in the
recreational field included work
in the Modern Dance. She stud-
ied in New York with Doris
Humphrey. She also attended
the Bennington School of Dance.
Miss Stein's activities for USO-
JWB place her in charge of the.

phases of social and recreational
program for servicemen and
women.

UHS Auxiliary Holds
Massada Chapter of Pioneer 'Fashion Panorama'
Women's Organization, has made
final arrangements for • a series At Center on April 25
of luncheon-card parties. Pro-
ceeds will be used towards the
quota for the building fund of
the Working Women's Council
in Palestine.
These socials will be sponsored
by groups of four members at
members' homes. The first party
will be held, this Saturday at
the home of Mrs. S. Karbal of
Webb Ave., the hostesses being
Mesdames L. Fidler. Joe Karbal,
S. Karbal and S. Schulman.
The second party will be given
Saturday, April 28, at the home
of Mrs. Joseph Grossman of
Glynn Ct., and the hostesses will
be Mesdames D. Colman, J.
Grossman, J. Pliskow and C.
Sarasohn.
Reservations may be made by
calling any of the hostesses. Ad-
ditional luncheon dates will be
announced later,

The year's concluding program
of the Women's Auxiliary of the
United Hebrew Schools will be
held Wednesday, April 25, at
1:30 p. in., in the auditorium of
the Jewish Center.
The program, entitled "Fashion
Show," will present costumes
worn by Jewish women through-
out the ages. The costumes, mod-
eled by members of the auxil-
iary, will depict the history of
the periods, studied through
Monuments, pottery and various
structures.
The first period, the Biblical,
will portray Rachel, the wife of
Jacob; Miriam, sister of Moses;
and Queen Esther.
The Talmudic period will fea-
ture Rachel, daughter of the rich
Calba Sovua, the wife of Rabbi
Akiva, and the scholarly woman
Beruriah, wife of Rabbi 'heir.
The Spanish period will fea-
ture women of the 16th. and
17th centuries, such as Gluckel
Von Hamelin, author of famous
memoirs.
This 'panorama will be con-
cluded with the modern period
and with Haluzoth, Palestinian
pioneer women of today.
Mrs. Walter Farber is director
of the program and Mrs. Bert
Smokier is chairman of the pro-
gram committee.
This cultural program will be
preceded by a dessert luncheon
and election of officers.
Chairman of the nomination
committee is Mrs. Samuel Sing-
er. The program is open to the
public. There is no charge.
It's interesting to know that
through. the facilities of the War
Activities Committee of the Mo-
tion Picture Industry, Holly-
wood produced a total of 45 spe-
cial motion picture subjects as
its contribution to thfre Office of
War Information film program
for 1944, using 12 studios, 24 pro-
ducers, 13. directors, 30 writers
and 57 actors and actresses.
These, were shown in 16,000 film
theaters.
