Col. Cooper to Lecture at
Showing of Color Picture
of Jewish Homeland

New natural color motion pic-
tures of "Palestine Today" will
be shown at 8:30 p. m. Thursday,
March 8, at the Detroit Institute
of Arts.
By special .War Department
permission Col. Edwin H. Cooper,
former Signal Corps color photo-
• grapher and holder of the Dis-
tinguished Service Cross, went to
Palestine last year and returned
in the fall With the most com-
plete motion picture of today's
Palestine that has ever been
filmed.
Col. Cooper, who will lecture
with his pictu'res, shows how un-
der the inspiration of Zionism a
desert waste has been converted
-into an area rich in new indus-
•tries,
cities, villages,
farms,
schools, hospitals, factories, homes
and colleges.
Wonder Spot of World
"Palestine has • been turned into
the wonder spot of the World;"
Col. Cooper writes. "Already it
is the favorite vacation spot of
thousands of American soldiers
on furlough. After the war, be-
"cause it has been made , modern,
safe and comfortable, it is des-
tined to reap a rich tourist in-
come."
Reserved tickets for the lec-
ture, at 90 cents and $1.20, are
now on sale at the World Adven-
ture Series office at the Institute,
TE. 2-7676.
Does the Impossible
Lowell Thomas, . commentator
and himself an illustrated lecture
expert, writes: e
"How he got his recent assign-
ment to fly all around the world,
Making color pictures in Pales-
tine and elsewhere, is baffling.
But, 'Coop' has always been do-
sing the impossible."
A question and answer session
will follow the lecture.
On Wednesday evening. March
7, Col. Cooper will show his new
films- of "With GI Joe Around
the World." They picture the
American soldier as he lives and
plays and fights in Italy, North
Africa, Egypt, Palestine, Persia,
India, Burma and China. Tickets
are on sale at the World Adven-
ture Series office.

`Warsaw Miracle'
Is Seen by 4,000

An audience of nearly .4,000
witnessed the presentation of the
epectactilar performance of "The
Miracle of the Warsaw Ghetto,"
last - Sunday evening, the
.
Masonic Temple.
Jacob Ben-Ami starred in the
production in the !eading role
Of Israel, a riligious yowl; man
who abhors war and refuses to
fight the Naeis, until he - learns
the lesson o`-the great st•uggle
against teeeoristh when ore of
the heroines of the drama, Rachel,
sacrifices . hei life in are e.F.Cert. to
secure ammunition.
Dina Halperin . and Muriel
Gruber excelled in their acting.
Misha Fishiohn plays an inter-
esting role, and in the- main the
entire cast did .well.
But the entire performance is
slow moving and this reviewer
left the hall greatly disappointed.
H. LeiviCk, the author did not 'do
justice to the great drama that
was enacted two years ago when.
the Jews in Waysaw fought
against_ the Nazi terror unto
death. The production does not
measure up to the historic -oc-
currence of the 1943 Passover..
. Consequently, the actors do
not produce what is expected.
The din of battle is unreal, and
so is the entire plot which', in
view of the theme, should have
been a fast-moving and dramatic
interpretation of current history.
Mr. Leivick could . have done
better—and. had he . measured up
to the great drama the actors
would. have responded better.
And this review would have
been more. favorable.
