Margot Pfeifer of WWJ's writ-
ing staff, a charter member of
Everyman's, and co-author of •
"The Great Quest," adapted this
oft-told story for Chancel pre-
sentation.

WASHINGTON, (JTA) - The
WRB announced this week that
everything possible and feasible,
and consistent with :the winning
of the war, is being done to res-
cue the Jews in German-occupied
territory.
• In answer to the plea of the
American Jewish Conference
that rescue work be continued,
the board said that "this dov-
ernment will , continue its efforts
to save the Jews and other vic-
tims of Nazi oppression remain-
ing in enemy Europe."

Mrs. Julia Levitsky
Passes Away at 66

Mrs. Julia Levitsky, of 9121
Cameron, who founded the La-
dies' Auxiliary of Telshe Yeshiv-
ah 11 years ago and had served
as its president since, died Dec. 25
at the age of 66. Funeral ser-
vices were held
at Lewis Bros.
Dec. 26. Burial
was in Machpel-
ah Cemetery.
She is surviv-
ed by her hus-

Obituaries

SAM RUBIN, 84, of 3364 Tyler,
died Jan. 4. Funeral services
were held Jan. 4 from Chesed
shel Ernes. He was a resident
of Detroit for 35 years. His wife
passed away last June. His sur-
vivors are his son, Abraham, a
daughter, Grace Gross, and three
grandchildren. Rabbi M. J. Wohl-
gelernter officiated at the fun-
eral..

SAMUEL J. NICHAMIN of 2601
Cortland Ave., died Jan. 5, at the
age of 48. Funeral services were
held at the Ira Kaufman Funeral
Home. Cantor Hyman Schulsin-
ger officiated. He is survived by
his wife, Anna; a son, Herbert
Cohen serving with the army; a
sister, Mrs. Saul Williamson of
Rock Island, Ill. Interment was
in the Nusach Hari Cemetery.

NORMAN SHERBIN, 42, of
18294 Appoline, died Dec. 30.
Funeral services were held from
Lewis Bros. Burial was in Mach-
pelah Cemetery. Rabbi Harold
Rosenthal officiated. He is sur-
vived by his wife, Bessie; a son,
Michael; and a brother, Albert.

Gentile League Loses
License in Illinois

CHICAGO, (J-TA)-Revocation
of the Illinois charter of the vio-
lently anti-Semitic Gentile Coop-
erative Association was announc-
ed here following an order issued
by Albert J. Meserow, assistant
attorney general, moving that the
Association and its directors be
held in contempt of court for
failure to surrender its records
to the court.
Judge Joseph A. Graber of Su-
perior Court compared the or-
ganization to the Ku Klux Klan,
Silver Shirts and similar hate
groups.
Eugene, R. Flitcraft, managing
director and founder of the as-
sociation, said that he will appeal
to the Illinois Supreme Court and
that he, will continue the work of
the Association under his own
name and under the name of his
paper, the Gentile News, and
the American Business Director-
ies Co. Flitcraft's objective is
to boycott Jewish-owned busi-
nesses.

vided by the law include capital
punishment, hard labor for life
and from five to 20 years at hard
