At U. M. Aided by
9 Girls at Hillel

ANN ARBOR—Thanks to the
efforts of nine girls who live
at the University of Michigan
Bnai Brith Hillel Foundation,
Herman Hudson, a• near-blind
Negro student who has been
struggling to finish his academic
work at the university for a
number ,of years, is now able to
have his work read to him.
Because Hudson has so little
vision that he.. cannot read or-1
dina•y print, from 14 to 16 hours
of reading are required each
week for him to keep up with
his courses. The nine Jewish
girls offered to do all this read-
ing. Hudson insisted on making
a modest payment and so the •
girls accept approximately 30
cents an hour and contributed
the money to the Jewish Na-
tional Fund.
