Mayor Jeffries to Attend
Palestine Parley March 9

Outstanding Christian Leaders Will Address National
Conference in Washington; GKLW to Broadcast
Vice-President Wallace's Address at Dinner

Prominent members of the Michigan Chapter of the
American Palestine Committee will attend the National Con-
ference on Palestine to be held at Hotel Statler in Washing-
ton next Thursday. The Michigan chapter is headed by. Judge
Frank A. Pickard who is prevented by an important case now
pending in Federal Court from attending these sessions.
Mayor Edward J. Jeffries, a member of the Michigan corn-
mittee, will be one of the Michigan delegates.

The conference will be spon-
sored by the Committee in co-
operation with leading labor and
civic organizations, including the
American Federation of Labor,
the Congress of Industrial Organ-
izations, the Christian Council on
Palestine, the Free World Asso-
ciation, the Union for Democratic
Action, the Unitarian Fellowship
for Social Justice and the United
Christian Council for Democ
racy.
The American Palestine Com-
mittee, whose chairman is Sena-
tor Robert Wagner of New York,
is "the vehicle for the expression
of the sympathy and good will of
Christian America for the move-
ment to reestablish the Jewish
National Home in Palestine."
Senator Wagner's Statement
In connection with the confer-
ence, Senator Wagner said:
"The entry of Jews into Pales-
tine which will be halted after
March 31, 1944, is a topic which
should be discussed by American
Christians because of the princi-
ple involved. - We are a demo-
cratic nation and we are pledged
to spread democratic philosphy
wherever possible.
"As a matter of fact, our Gov-
ernment is pledged to the estab-
lishment of a Jewish National
Home. in Palestine through unan-
imous adoption of a joint resolu-
tion by the House and Senate in
1922.
"The National Conference on
Palestine to be held in Washing-
ton merely carries forw,rd the
aims of the Congress-adopted
resolution.
"The policy of unrestricted en-
try of Jews into Palestine has
been endorsed by every admini-

Farewell Performances of Mischa,
Lucy Gehrman at Littman's Theater

The final performances featur-
ing Mischa and Lucy Gehrman,
at Littman's Yiddish People's
Theater, will be presented this
Sunday and on Tuesday evening.
Sunday matinee and evening,
William Siegel's "Rachel's Chil-
dren" will be featured. There
will be five new members of the
cast—all young people who have

been specially trained for their
parts.
On Tuesday evening, a special
concert and variety program will
be presented as a farewell to the
Gehrmans.
