The Michigan chapter is headed by. Judge Frank A. Pickard who is prevented by an important case now pending in Federal Court from attending these sessions. Mayor Edward J. Jeffries, a member of the Michigan corn- mittee, will be one of the Michigan delegates. The conference will be spon- sored by the Committee in co- operation with leading labor and civic organizations, including the American Federation of Labor, the Congress of Industrial Organ- izations, the Christian Council on Palestine, the Free World Asso- ciation, the Union for Democratic Action, the Unitarian Fellowship for Social Justice and the United Christian Council for Democ racy. The American Palestine Com- mittee, whose chairman is Sena- tor Robert Wagner of New York, is "the vehicle for the expression of the sympathy and good will of Christian America for the move- ment to reestablish the Jewish National Home in Palestine." Senator Wagner's Statement In connection with the confer- ence, Senator Wagner said: "The entry of Jews into Pales- tine which will be halted after March 31, 1944, is a topic which should be discussed by American Christians because of the princi- ple involved. - We are a demo- cratic nation and we are pledged to spread democratic philosphy wherever possible. "As a matter of fact, our Gov- ernment is pledged to the estab- lishment of a Jewish National Home. in Palestine through unan- imous adoption of a joint resolu- tion by the House and Senate in 1922.
