to Give Colors
to NW Hebrew
Post No. 135 of the Jewish War
Veterans of America will present
the American colors to the North-
west Hebrew Congregation and
Center at 8:30 p. m. Sunday in the
synagogue.
Commander David Kay will
make the presentation, assisted by
Arthur Lang, chairman of the flag
presentation committee of the post.
The flag will be accepted on be-
half of the synagogue by its presi-
dent, Ira G. Kaufman, and will be
dedicated to its service by Rabbi
Jacob E. Segal.
Following the ceremony a gen-
eral meeting of congregation mem-
bers will be held, at which a dis-
cussion on the progress of the
synagogue is, iilding arid its func-
tions will take place. Refreshments
will be served by the sisterhood.

Young Israel's first general meet-
ing of 1947 will be held at 8:30
p. m. Monday at Yeshivoth Beth
Yehudah, Dexter and Cortland
avenues. Several bids on the con-
struction of the first floor of the
Young Israel Youth Center, to be
erected on Dexter and Fullerton
at a cost of $150,000, will be on
file in time for consideration by
the general membership.
Construction will begin as soon
as a bid is accepted.
The meeting will be addressed
by Rabbi Max J. Wohlgelernter,
who has just returned from a two.

Torah Scholarship
The Sisterhood of Shaarey Zedek
is intensifying its efforts to com-
plete work on its drive for
the Hershman-Adler Torah fund
as a permanent scholarship to the
Jewish Theological Seminary.
The drive will be climaxed with
a luncheon Feb. 12 when a canta-
ta will be presented under the di-
rection of Mrs. Morris Adler and
Cantor Jacob Sonenklar. Persons
interested in taking part in the

the Beth Aaron Friday evening
forum series Jan. 10 with a talk
on "Key to Jewish Survival." The
address was followed by Sabbath
hymns and readings and a discus-
sion of current events.
The Beth Aaron Sisterhood will
celebrate its second birthday at
8:30 Sunday. Dancing, community
singing and refreshments are
planned.
A public address system and
100 new chairs have been pre-
sented to the synagogue by the
Men's Club. Paul Carpenter, presi-
dent of the club, announces that
the bingo game evenings will con-
tinue every Tuesday night through
the winter season.
