Faculty to Hold Editor to Address Histadrut
Chanukah Dinner at Pre-Campaign Assembly

Faculty members of the United
Hebrew Schools will celebrate
Chanukah at a dinner Monday
evening.
Services and a special program
will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, by
the junior congregation of the
Central branch at Congregation
Enai David. Refreshments will be
served by the parent teachers
group.
The Parkside branch will honor
the festival Sunday in the school.
A Siyum, the custom of celebrat-
ing the completion of study of one
book and the commencement of
study of another, will be observed
at 11 a. m. Sunday at the Rose
Sittig Cohen School and Sunday,
Dec. 29, at the Philadelphia-Byron
School.
This ceremony will also take
'place at the graduation exercises
of the Parkside and the David W.
Simons branches Jan. 12 and Jan.
19 respectively.

A pre-campaign rally for or-
ganizational delegates and work-
ers of the Detroit Palestine Histad-
rut (Geverkshaften) campaign will
be held at 8:30 p.m., Thursday, at
the Rose Sittig Cohen Auditorium,
13226 Lawton avenue. Final plans
will be made for the inauguration
of the 1947 drive at a city-wide
conference Jan. 5 in the Brown
Memorial Chapel of Temple Beth
El.

Thursday will be Dr. Benjamin
Schwadron, director of research of
the American Zionist Emergency

Dr. Bernard is associated with
Earle G. Harrison, dean of the
Law School of the University of
Pennsylvania and chairman of the
National Citizens Committee on
Displaced Persona.
The Michigan committee is en-
deavoring to bring before Con-
gress the views of representative
groups in Michigan with respect
to the critical situation facing dis-
placed persons in Europe.

the quota system in the univer-

8. Admission of the maximum
quotas under the immigration law
as well as the relaxation of the
present immigration laws.
9. Insistance of the fulfillment
of the English-American agree-
ment to permit displaced persons
to enter Palestine.
10. Aid to reduce child delin-
quency.
11. Promotion of athletics and
sports among the veterans and
underprivileged children.

ON DEC. 15, Mr. and Mrs. Ru-
dolph Stein were hosts to brunch
for the board of directors of the
department. Plans for furthering
the war veterans memorial home
center were proposed. The board
of directors contributed an addi-
tional sum of $1,000 to complete
payment for the large plot of land
on Davison avenue west.

publicity chairman, was delegated
to represent the department presi-
dent, Louba Lupiloff, at a United
Spanish War Veterans testimonial
dinner Dec. 14. Greetings of the
department were extended.

Persons was inaugurated Wednes-
day when Dr William Bernard,
secretary of the National Citizens
Committee on Displaced Persons,

Partition Plan

NEW YORK—Joseph P. Stern-
stein, of New York City, was re-
elected national president of Ma-
sada-Young Zionists of America,
at its twelfth annual convention
recently. Detroit delegates were
Alvin Shipman and Leonard Ba-
ruch.
Sternsteln was elected in absen-
tia while en route as the organ-
izatio;fs delegate to the World
Zionist Congress.
Attended by more than 250
young delegates from 31 states, the
Young Zionist convention adopted
resolutions calling "for an undi-
vided and undiminished Palestine
as a Jewish State."
Declaring that "no confidence
can be placed in the British gov-
ernment," the convention declared
"that the Jewish people cannot
and will not honor policy, White
Paper, on the part of the manda-
tory power to limit Jewish rights
in Palestine." The convention di-
rected its delegate to the World
Zionist Congress to "pursue a firm
policy for the fulfillment of the
legal rights of the Jewish people
in Palestine."

DR. SCHWADRON
Council and editor of "Palestine
Affairs." Dr. Schwadron recently
returned to this country from
Palestine and the Middle East.
Born in Jerusalem, Dr. Schwad-
ron has been Palestine and Mid-
dle East editor of the Het rew
paper, "Hadoar," and a frequent
contributor to magazines and peri-
odicals. He is the author of the
authoritative books, "The British
Policy in Palestine" and "The
British Parliament and Zionism."
Morris L. Schaver, conference
