Plans have been formulated for
the January jamboree of the
Junior Service Group, Jan. 4 at
Masonic Temple. Hermtne Stone is

son and Robert E. Eston. Music
will be furnished by Ray Gorell

The Jolliettes have elected the

thy Saulles; secretary, Sara Lee
Eichler; and treasurer, Dini Crush-

Kurt. Saffir Soloist
for Youth Concert

A concert for young people will
be presented at the Jewish Center
at 2:30 p .m. Sunday by the newly
organized Center Symphony Or-
chestra under the direction of
Julius Chajes.
Kurt Saffir, pianist, will play the
Beethoven Concerto in C-Minor.
Other participants will include
Irving Zeitlin, Herbert Mandel and
Harriet Bradlin. Chajes will serve
as musical annotator.
The concert is being sponsored
by the Intermediate Club Council
and the Junior Service Group. Ad-
mission will be one can of food
for the SOS drive.

Chanukah Hymns to Highlight
Senior Hadassah Group Events

Programs typifying the spirit of
Chanukah will feature Hadassah's
group meetings Tuesday. All will
open with luncheonettes for paid-
up members at 1 p.m. and will in-
clude a report on the recent Had-
assah convention in their program.
Central East Group will meet
at the Jewish Community Center.
The convention report will be
given by Mrs. J. S. Sauls, executive
chairman, and a film entitled "It
Can Be Done" will be shown.
Central West Group will meet
at the Shaarey Zedek. There will
be community singing of Chanu-
kah songs, accompanied on the
piano by Mrs. Morris Lipshy.
Sholem Aleichem's "Old Country"
will be reviewed by Mrs. Morris
Adler and the convention will be
reported by Mrs. Julian Tobias,
executive chairman.
Russell Woods Group will gath-
er at the Home for the Aged an-
nex, 4201 Burlingame avenue. Mrs.
Samuel Arkin, executive chairman,
will review the convention. Mrs.
Levy Shapiro, who has recently
returned from Palestine, will be
the speaker of the afternoon.
University East Group has ar-
ranged a diversified program at
the home of Mrs. I. Jerome Hau-
ser, 18508 Prairie avenue. Mrs.
Milford Pregerson will entertain
with a dramatic reading, accom-
panied on the piano by Mrs. Roy-
al Maas. Frances Louise Boddy
will review current books and Mrs.

Bnai Brith Highlights

EAST SIDE
The East Side Lodge and the
East Side Women of Bnai Brith
will hold a joint meeting at 9 p.m.
Monday, at the Savarine Hotel.
Leonard J. Grossman, attorney
and orator, will be guest speaker.
As a founder and an early presi-
dent of the Jewish Progressive
Club of Atlanta, Ga., Grossman
was appointed a delegate to the
first and second American Jewish
Congress in 1914 and 1917 and a
delegate from Chicago , in, 1923 to
the third congress.
Mrs. Jeannette Sheplow and Er-
win Glaedey, in charge of pro-
grams of the auxiliary and lodge
respectively, were instrumental in
bringing Grossman to Detroit.

GREATER DETROIT COUNCIL
The Anti-Defamation League
workshop, sponsored by the Wo-
men's Greater Detroit Bnai Brith
Council and the Jewish Commu-
nity Council will continue on the
third Wednesday of each month,
Mrs. Charles Maki, chairman, has
announced.
The workshop, which opened
Dec. 4, is designed to acquaint wo-
men of the Jewish community with
information to enable them to
fight racial prejudices.

DETROIT LODGE AUXILIARY
The Women's Auxiliary of the
Detroit Lodge of Bnai Brith will
hold a bingo night Tuesday, at
the Rose Sittig Cohen Bldg.

NEW YORK—The appointment
of Leo Shapiro as director of the
department of education of the
Anti-Defamation League of Bnai
Brith has been announced by
Richard E. Gutstadt, national di-
rector of the league. Shapiro will
direct activities concerned pri-
marily with the application of the
best insights of education to the
task of extending intercultural and
intergroup understanding in Amer-
ica, Gutstadt said.

MARSHALL WOMEN
The Bnai Brith Young Women
of Louis Marshall will hold their
next business meeting at 8:15 p.m.
