At the Sabbath services of the
Northwest Hebrew Congregation
and Center, held on March 2, Ron-
ald Louis Decker, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Milton Decker, celebrated his
Bar-Mitzvah.
The services were also the occa-
sion for the announcement of the
forthcoming marriage of Miss
Anne Burg, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Solomon Burg, to Mr. Sey-
mour Wedes, of Brooklyn, N. Y.
On Sunday morning, March 17,
the religious school will present a
play woven about the traditional
story of the Purim festival. The
play is written and directed by
Mrs. Joseph M. Markel, with Mr.
Abraham Warsen coach of the
cast.
Mr. Max H. Goldsmith, first
vice-president of the Congregation,
is molding the Junior Congrega-
tion into a new force within the
various affiliates of the Synagogue.
Mr. Goldsmith has announced bas-
ketball sessions every Thursday
evening, for the boys.
On Saturday, March 9, the Syn-
agogue will inaugurate its first
children's story hour. This story-
telling hour will be in addition to
the Senior services and the Jun-
ior Congregational services and
will emphasize the Synagogue en-
deavor to integrate the children
and family of its members into a
complete participation in Sabbath
observance,
The community is invited to at-
tend the Sabbath services of the
Synagogue held at the Bagley
School, Curtis and Roselawn,

Heiman to Presidency
Aiming to further Zionist spir-
it, the Carmel Young Israel Club
met recently electing the follow-
ing officers: Gerald Heiman, pres-
ident; Leonard Rosen, vice-presi-
dent; Morton Demek, secretary;
Donald Fox, treasurer; Lloyd Bla-
zofsky, librarian; and Maurice
Betman, Larry Eisenberg, Fred
Prag, Barry Lieberman, and Leo-
nard Hammer, trustees. Jerry Lip-
man, assisted by Kalman Gold,
heads the Program and Educa-
tional committee.

Celerate Purim
A Purim Party to be held at
the Beth Aaron Synagogue was
discussed at a recent meeting of
the Beth Aaron Sisterhood at the
home of Mrs. S. Altman, 18114
Ohio. Plebs for the formation of
a Hebrew and Sunday School
were also proposed.
On Monday, March 11, the Sis-
terhood will meet at the home of
Mrs. J. Berman, 18694 Hartwell.
Bnai Moshe to
Conclude Late
Friday Services
The Congregation Bnai Moshe
will conclude its series of late
Friday evening services of the
present season on March 15 with
Rabbi Eliezer A. Levi speaking
on "A Modern Mordecai."
Services will begin at 8:15 and
will be conducted by Cantor Dav-
id Katzman. A social hour will
follow Rabbi Levi's address. Sis-
terhood hostesses, under the chair-
manship of Mrs. Ben F. Goldman,
will serve refreshments.
