To Open "Jewish Life
Today" Lectures Feb. 14

Professor Baron of New York,
who is the author of a t hree-
v dual e book, "The History o f
the Jewish Community," will con-
sider the historical aspects as
Well as the present problems it,
his talk on Jewish leadership. In-
cluded will be an analysis of the
factors in the national and local
scene contributing toward these
problems.
Seminars with local leaders arc
being planned to further discuss
the subjects which will be raised
by the visiting lecturers. A num-
ber of organizations have been
invited to participate in the plan-
ning and promotion of the lec-
ture series. Organizations may
reserve a block of 50 tickets a,
a discount.

Salo \V. Baron will appear at
Jewish Community Cem el. on
Monday evening, Feb. 14. Pro-
fessor Baron's subject in this
new public lecture series is "The
Crisis in American Jewish Lead-
ership",

chairman of the Center's Adult
Education Committee, this lec-
ture series will deal with sonic

Paper and Scrap Drive
To Be Initiated Jan. 30
War workers of the Jewish
Community Center are getting in
the scrap with the initiation of
a paper and scrap drive on Sun-
day afternoon, Jan. 30. Commit-
tee members will come dressed
in old clothes, ready to pitch in
and load scrap materials onto
trucks which are being supplied
by Al Krass. After the collec-
tion, members who have been on
the drive will return to the Cen-
ter for a hot dog party and
dancing.

"Women's Role in War"
Discussing "Women's Role is
the War," Mrs. Anne Brandes,
of the War Manpower Commis-
sion will be the second lecturer
in the current Charm Program
series at the Jewish Community
Center. This meeting will take
place Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 9
o'clock, and all young women arc
invited to attend.
Charles Rubiner To
Discuss "Yankee Lawyer"
This
Wednesday evening's
Book Chat at the Jewish Com-
munity Center will bring Charles
Rubiner, attorney and commu-
nal leader, to discuss "Yankee
Lawyer," the autobiography of
Ephraim Tutt. This famous auto-
biography, created by Arthur
Train, will be reviewed by Mr.
Rubiner, with a discussion pe-
riod following. The meeting will
be held in the Adult Lounge at
8 :45 p. m., and is open to the
public without charge.

rector of music at the Center,
will lecture on "Popular Music"
on Monday, Jan. 24, at 8:13

Center. Music by Jerome Kern,
Irving Berlin, Earl Robinson and
