Fourth Volume of Prof.
Waxman's "A History
of Jewish Literature"
The fourth and concluding vol-
ume of the monumental work, "A
History of Jewish Literature," by
Prof. Meyer Waxman, has just
been published by Bloch. It con-
tains the history of modern He-
brew literature from 1880 to
1935; of Yiddish and Jewish lit-
erature in European languages
from 1880 to 1935; a survey of
Jewish learning in all its phases
and in all languages during the
past 55 years; an exposition of
all currents of Jewish thought
during the period, with special
attention to the philosophy of
Zionism as well as an extensive
survey of American Jewish lit-
erature, in three languages, Eng-
lish, Hebrew and Yiddish, dur-
ing the past 150 years. This
volume completes a most com-
prehensive study of Jewish lit-
erature from the close of the
Bible to the present time.
