Polish Woman Sentenced to Death
for Listening to British Radio
ZURICH. — (WNS) — A Po-
lish woman in the province of
Posen, Nazi-occupied Poland, was
sentenced to death after a Nazi
court found her guilty of invit-
ing a group of her friends to
her home to listen to a British
news broadcast, it was reported
here. The prosecutor charged
that the woman later spread the
British reports among the Polish
and Jewish inhabitants of the
province.
BUDAPEST. — (WNS) —
Approximately 3,000 Rumanian
Jews will be tried shortly for
"falsifying" their birth certifi-
cates through which they hoped
to prove that they were born
in Soviet-occupied Bessarabia and
northern Bukovina, according to
reports reaching here from Bach-
al est.

UNITED DRIVE RECONSTITUTED
(Continued from Page 1)
Agreement for Joint Fund-Raising Cam-
paigns Renewed After Prolonged
Negotiations
Detroit extends its warm greet-
ings to the effort for the estab-
lishment of a new building for
the local Yeshivah which was
founded 25 years ago and has
during the entire period con-
tinued its fruitful work in the
field of religious education,
training many students, some of

The United Jewish Appeal for the reconstruc-
tion of Palestine, the relief of Jews in warring
countries through the Joint Distribution Committee
and assistance to refugees in this country through
the National Refugee Service was renewed late on
Thursday when a new agreement was reached by
leaders of the three groups.
According to this agreement, the Joint Distri-
bution Committee will receive $4,275,000; the
United Palestine Appeal will get $2,525,000, and
the National Refugee Service will be allotted
$2,000,000. After the first $8,000,000 fund has
thus been allocated, additional monies received will
be apportioned by a special allocations committee.
The renewed agreement follows three months
of discord in fund-raising ranks. During this period
separate campaigns were organized in praparation
for this year's work. The united fund-raising ma-
chinery will now be put into force again.
