Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cohen of
Burlingame Ave. announce the
marriage of their daughter,
Elaine Joy, d.o Donald L. Coville,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Co-
ville of Fullerton Ave., on Sun-
day, Dec. 29, at the Belcrest
Hotel. Rabbi Leon Fram officiated.
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride wore a gown of
white chiffon made with a high
neck line trimmed in rhinestones,
the full skirt fell from a tight
basque waist, Bishop sleeves and
Queen Anne cap • of lace held her
finger tip veil in place and white
gardenias and lilies of the valley
fashioned the bridal bouquet.
Mrs. Lawrence Coville, the
matron of honor, wore a dress
of peach lace and a small hat of
blue feathers. She carried talis-
man roses and blue carnations.
Lawrence Coville was best man
for his brother. Following the
ceremony the wedding breakfast
was served for the wedding party
and family.
On their return to Detroit the
couple will be at home at 111
Highland Ave.
Among the out of town guests
were Mrs. John Flesh and
daughter. Evelyn, of Chicago, and
M. B. Cohen and Hattie Cohen
of New York City.

To prepare the mind and the
spirit of Congregation Beth El
for the forthcoming convention
of the Union of American Heb-
rew Congregations, which will
take place in Detroit in April,
1941, Rabbi Leon Fram is now
beginning a series of sermons,
dealing with the present status,
aims, ideals and prospects of
Reform Judaism in America. The
first sermon in the series will be
given next Friday night, Jan.
10, at Temple Beth El, Wood-
ward at Gladstone, on the sub-
ject "Where Does Reform Juda-
ism Stand Today?"
The Temple announces the re-
opening of the sessions of the
religious school, which has been
in recess for the past two weeks,
on Saturday morning, Jan. 4,
and Sunday morning, Jan. 5.
The Winter Term of Beth El
College of Jewish Studies opens
next Monday night, Jan. 6. Rab-
bi Fram will begin a new course
in "Current World History."
The Men's Club of Temple
Beth El has established a Beth
El College lectureship by the
terms of which Rabbi Fram is
to invite leading Jewish scholars
from the great academies of
Jewish learning of America to
deliver popular lectures on vari-
ous phases of Jewish culture be-
fore special student assemblies
of Beth El College.

Miss Betty Horwitz, daughter
of Mr. Jacob Horwitz of Broad-
street Blvd., became the bride of
Melvyn Schubiner, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Max Schubiner of Car-
ter Ave., on Sunday, Dec. 22,
at Lacher's. Rabbi A. M. Hersh-
man officiated. A buffet supper
for 200 guests followed.
The bride was lovely in an ice-
blue satin gown, made in empire
style with a fan-shaped train. A
halo of matching material formed
her veil and she carried a bou-
quet of calla lilies.
Mrs. Leo Kolodin, sister of the
bride, was matron-of-honor; Miss
Shirley Levinson was maid-of-
honor. The best man was Bud
Shapero. The bridesmaids were
Ann Rothenberg, Celia Hoffman,
Sylvia Radin and the ushers were
Jerry Greenberg, Harry Kashtan
and Bernard Koss. The flower-
girl was Roberta Gail Kolodin.

Wayne University chapter was

gation at the Midwest confer-
ence held at Cleveland Dec. 25
and 26.
Two of the high points of this
conference were Rabbi Barnett
Brickner's speech on "In Spite
of Everything" and Dr. Shlomo
Bardin's speech on "The Jew
in Palestine and the New World
