Plans are under way for the forth-
coming concert on Jan. 23, by Paul
Musikonsky, young violinist. This
conceit will be held at Temple Beth
El, under the auspices of the
Music Study Club of Detroit Mrs.
J. M. Berris, 1446 W. Chicago
Illvd., is chairman of the concert
committee.
The Music Study Club Is known
for its activity in sponsoring and
aiding young people with outstand-
ing musical talents, as well as for
its activity in philanthropic work.
Each year the club plans an inter-
esting series of programs for the
entertainment of shut-ins in many
of the institutions in and near
'Detroit.
The plan for sponsoring young
artists has been the means of giv-
ing many talented young men and
women the opportunity of further-
ing their musical education with
eminent teachers.
Paul Musikonsky, the violinist
who will be heard in concert on
Jan. 23, made his debut in 1932,
at the age of 8, with the Man-
hattan Symphony Orchestra, under
the baton of Dr. Henry Hadley'. Ile
has been acclaimed in music circles
throughout Europe and Asia, as
well as in America, as a young
artist of great promise.
The scholarship fund which en-
ables the Music Study Club to
carry out their work among young
msicians, was created in 1932 by
Mrs. D. W. Simons, in memory of
her daughter, Sylvia. It is known
as the Sylvia Simons Scholarship
Fund. Mrs. J. S. Sauls was ac-
tive in planning the scholarship
fund,
Mrs. Maurice Morse is president
of the Music Study Club.
