The annual June tea of the Mu-
sic Study Club of Detroit took
June 2, before a representative au- ,
dience. An interesting program was
given and the choral group under
the expert leadership of Charles
Frederick Morse showed fine tonal
balance and blending in the five
numbers sung. They opened with
Saint-Saens' Lake of Dreams, fol-
lowed by Granville Bantock's Silent
Strings, effectively done. Two
songs by Brahms, "Locksmith Ho!"
and "Bird in Air Will Stray Afar"
came next and the final number,
a Negro spiritual by Burleigh, "Oh,
Peter Go Ring-A Dem Bells,"

A play entitled "They Bury the

god style and the Brown Twins,
pianists, contributed a group of
solos in a finished manner.
Mrs. Jacob H. Schakne, soprano,
ably accompanied by Mrs. Burton

Mozart's "Alleluya" and Von
Weber's "Ocean Thou Mighty

Mrs. Schakne was well received
by the audience and deserved the
enthusiastic plaudits.
