An interesting program was given and the choral group under the expert leadership of Charles Frederick Morse showed fine tonal balance and blending in the five numbers sung. They opened with Saint-Saens' Lake of Dreams, fol- lowed by Granville Bantock's Silent Strings, effectively done. Two songs by Brahms, "Locksmith Ho!" and "Bird in Air Will Stray Afar" came next and the final number, a Negro spiritual by Burleigh, "Oh, Peter Go Ring-A Dem Bells," rounded out the choral's contri- bution to the program. The choral of the Music Study Club numbers some fine artists and it is to the credit of Mr. Morse and its members that steady prog- ress is being made, continuing at its present advancement it should turn out one of the leading choirs of the city. A play entitled "They Bury the Dead" was read by Mrs. Agins in god style and the Brown Twins, pianists, contributed a group of solos in a finished manner. Mrs. Jacob H. Schakne, soprano, ably accompanied by Mrs. Burton Clamage, sang two difficult arias, Mozart's "Alleluya" and Von Weber's "Ocean Thou Mighty Monster," revealing a colorful dra- matic voice of exceptional range. Mrs. Schakne was well received by the audience and deserved the enthusiastic plaudits. —R. C. B.
