Rose Schwartz and Ruth Pollock
and wore coral lace, pale pink
lace, peach lace and pale blue
lace respectively and carried bou-
quets of contrasting colored
roses. Miss Betty Blatt was maid
of honor and wore cream mous-
seline de aoi and carried yellow
roses, Mrs. Ira Ciralsky, who
was matron of honor, wore pale
pink chiffon and carried pink
roses. Sonia Kondritzer was the
junior bridesmaid, ruzanne Freed-
man was the flower girl and Stan-
ford Freedman was the ring
bearer. The ushers were Jerome
Ash, Norman Ash, Harold Biel-
field, Milton Bielfield, Ira Ciral-
sky and Irving Pollock. Sidney
Bielfield was best man.
The bride's mother wore two
shades of orchid chiffon and the
groom's mother wore lavender
chiffon, both having corsages of
orchids.
A reception and buffet supper
followed for 400 guests among

Rabbi Epelgrad Here in the
I Interest of Slonim
Yeshiva

Rabbi S. Epelgrad, representa-
tive of the Rabbinical College of
Slonim, arrived in Detroit on
Thursday for a two-weeks stay in
the interest of the school.
During his stay in Detroit,
Rabbi Epelgrad is making his
home at 678 Owen Ave., telephone
Trinity 2-4989.
Rabbi Epelgrad will make ap-
peals to local synagogues and will
also visit many individuals in an
effort to rase a fund in the in-
terests of this school. He brings
with him indorsements from
many prominent people.
Rabbi A. M. Ashinsky of Pitts-
burgh, formerly of Detroit, has
sent with Rabbi Epelgrad a state-
ment to Detroit Jews urging them
to give their unstinted support to
this school which is one of the
Hiding theological seminaries in
the world.

Council of Pioneer Women's
Organization

The Council of the Pioneer
Woinen's., Organization, which
functioned regularly and carried
out successfully several undertak-
ings throughout the year, will
close its season's activities with a
picnic to be held on June 14,. at
Palmer Park. Meals will be served

Jew Honored at Rutgers

NEW BRUNSWICK, N. J. —
Edward James Slotkin of Elberon,
N. J., was recently elected presi-
dent of the Interfraternity Con-
ference at Rutgers University.
This is the first time that a mem-
ber of the Jewish faith has been
highly honored in directing

the activities of the 18 fraterni-
ties at Rutgers. Slotkin is a mem-
ber of the varsity track team, a
member of the Scarlet Key honor-
ary society, and the presiding offi-
cer of Phi Epsilon Pi Frater-
nity at Rutgers University.

' Lace was the keynote of the
early summer wedding last Sat-
urday night when Miss Genevieve
Romeo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Nathan P. Rosen of 16620 Nor-
mandy Ave., and Harry Portner,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Portner of
1509 W. Philadelphia Ave., spoke
their vows.
Dr. Leo M. Franklin, assisted
by Rabbi Joshua Sperka, perform-
ed the ceremony in the blue room
of Temple Beth El, with more
than 400 guests present.
The bride was an exquisite fig-
ure in a dress of Venetian lace
over an ivory satin slip. Her
gown had an empire waistline, a
small Queen Anne collar, and
short puffed sleeves, while tiny
buttons ran down the front of
the dress from neck to hem. The
finger-tip length veil was edged
in point d'esprit lace and hung
from a heart-shaped stand-up
head-dress made of the same' ma-
terials as her gown. He bouquet
Was a large, old-fashioned nose-
gay of gardenias, roses, and lilies-
of-the-valley.
The maid of honor, Miss Doro-
thy Goldman of Washington, D.
C., wore a dress of peach lace
with a butcher-boy back. Also
dressed in peach was the flower
girl, little 3-year-old 'Henrietta
Rosen, of Washington, D. C.
The bridesmaids selected iden-
tical lace gowns in three con-
trasting colors, veoline blue, yel-
low and aqua. The bride's at-
tendants were Rt.th Rapoport,
Ethel Hochman, Fannie Pikulin,
Selma Wineman, Annabel Berick
and Faye Portner.
The groom's attendants were
Edwin !Johnson, best man; Jor-
don Rossen, ring bearer; Sy Slut-

On four evenings of the siller
jubilee festival arranged by the
Men's Club of Congregation B'nal
Moshe on the site adjoining the
synagogue at Dexter Blvd. and
Lawrence Ake., which will run
from June 6 through 14, a series
of amateur contest will be fea-
tured. •
In addition to a number of chil-
dren of members, the arrange-.
ments committee has succeeded in
obtaining the appearance of Ed-
die's Amateurs, the best known of
their kind in the city. These ama-
teurs present a total of 12 acts,
four of which will be produced on

each of the following nights: at 9
p. m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
and Saturday, June 8, 9, 11 and 13
respectively.
Eddie Jacobson, who is connect-
ed with the Capitol Theater, Ver-
nor Highway and Springwells
Ave., is manager of this amateur
group, and their appearance was
made possible through the cour-
tesy of that theater.
Admission to these contests is
free and the public is invited.
Valuable prizes will lie awarded to
the winners of first and second
places, applause of the audience
determining the status.

only artist in Michigan, perform-
ing on the theremin, will give a re-
cital. Miss Richardson studied in
New York City with Professor
Leon Theremin, the inventor of
this instrument. She is a member
of the Tuesday Musicale.
Margaret Schuiling Voexter,
well-known contralto, will sing.
Mrs. Burton Clamage will be her
accompanist.

nalistic circles on the University of
Michigan campus, Marshall was
recently elected president of the
Michigan chapter of Sigma Delta
Chi, honorary journalistic frater-
nity.
Marshall Shulman's editorials
have been highly commended by
prominent editors and by members
of the faculty. Ile is considered an
unusually able newspaperman who
is expected to rise high in the pro-
fession.

A special meeting of the Jer-
ish Women's European Welfare
organization was held Monday,
June 1, at the Vnai Moshe Con-
gregation, Dexter and Lawrence.
Mrs. A, Katzin, president, pre-

sided.
At this meeting letters were
read from European orphans who
are on the regular supporting list,
and from four new orphans asking
for relief. Checks were sent to the
old and new orphan cases in the
amount of $175; and for room
rent to an orphan student in the
Ilebrew Theological College at
Chicago, and for room rent to an
orphan family brought over re-
cently by the organization to De-
troit.
An announcement was made that
the organization will have a tag
day at Mt. Clemens, Sunday, July
29, for which affair the organiza-
tion has in their possession a per-
mit from the mayor of Mt. Cle-

mens.
A special board meeting is called
for Monday, June 8, at the home

of Mrs. Kief, a member of the
board, 2070 Euclid Ave., at 12:30
p. m. At this meeting plans will
be taken up for arranging a local
affair In the nearest future. .
