MOTOR t
Good Will.
Public opinion has stamped its seal
of approval upon the motor industry,
according to executives of the I.iberty
Motor Car company, in Detroit, who
point out that protests or boycotts
have been aimed at raising costs of
many commodities, but never against
the motor car business. This fact is
interpreted as showing the good will
and faith built up for the motor indus-
try. \\lien motor manufacturers were
forced to raise their prices, following
nation-wide shortages and high costs
of all materials and labor, the public
was not known to have registered
complaint.
The public seems generally aware
that the steel strike, followed by the
coal strike, followed by the rail tieup,
dealt fierce body blows to motor pro-
duction and obliged the manufactur-
ers t,, raise the prices xi cars, though
not so greatly nor so often as was
the case with many other cont-
nod ties.
Automobiles, it is stated, have
proved, themselves a necessity in busi-
ness and in passenger transportation
of all sorts, and it is believed that
the public has shown its belief along
that line. 'lime I.iberty Motor Cat
Company has been attuning those who
have been obliged to raise prices since
the national strikes set in, but it has
convincingly shown that increased
prices barely covered increased costs.
For Anti-Thief Law.
A campaign for a universal aaii-
thief automobile law will be waged
by the American Automobile Associa-
