As for the Saunders boat house ques-,j
tion, the rule about taking. out an-
other man's canoe is made to protect
owners from the crowd of parasites
who -would pester them to death bor-
rowing the canoe. The prices may be
high but these canoes must' be kept in,
storage and rent paid on the property
all year while the season is short and
subject to weather conditions even
when it is warm enough to enjoy it.
The 54 cents an hour,..or whatever it
is, is much better spent in the open,
getting relaxation and exercise, enjoy-
ing the world you live in and being
glad just .to be alive, than all the sun-
daes that even ,the ,most depraved ap-
petite' could desire in any one period
of 25 hours.
Use Your Head
If you don't like the prices don't buy.
The merchant must sell' something to
keep alive and the prices will have to
come down. If canoeing is too expen-
sive, walk out in the woods. The ex-
ercise may stimulate a normal appet-
ite and change that "D" to a "B" be-
cause you are more full of fresh in-
vigorating air than soda fountain dope.
Start the course suggested,'in the fall
and see how mach easier it is to bear
and forebare. Prices will take care
of themselves. Your roommmate may
wear New York shoes, at $20 a pair .but
that doesn't make him a better man
nor a better student. 'Use your head!
Use discretion! Discyiminate.
