Reds To Visit . . .
Soviet government officials will
send a three-man Russian dele-
gation to Ann Arbor Nov. 3 and 4
to observe the final stages of the
United States' 1956 political cam-
paigns.
The Russians will arrive at Wil-
low Run Airport Saturday night,
Nov. 3, according to Prof. James
K. Pollock, head of the University
Department of Political Science.
The delegation will visit the
campus and University depart-
ments before leaving for Detroit.
The visit is sponsored by the
United States State Department
under the jurisdiction of the Gov-
ernmental Affairs Institute, an
affiliate of the American Political
Science Association.
University of Michigan is the
only United States university the
Russians have scheduled for a visit
during their trip through the coun-
try.
Prof. Pollock, who is in charge
of all arrangements for the Rus-
sian trio, has not yet disclosed de-
tails of the campus tour.
Mental Housing ..
A solution for the problem of
temporary housing of violent
mental patients will be discussed
by County officials in a conference
-at Mercywood Sanitarium today.
Patients are currently taken to
the County Jail pending commit-
ment to a mental hospital.
The recent suicide of a 14 year
old boy at the Juvenile Home in no
way instigated the investigation
for handling of patients, officials
sid.
