The historical significance of
President Nasser of Egypt is that
he is the first Arab leader to raise
a banner of dynamic leadership
in both of these causes.
For the United States the trag-
edy in the rise of Arab national-
ism is that it has adopted as an
integral part of itself an intense
anti-Westernism which includes
anti-Americanism. There are two
causes for this: the friendliness
of the United States to Israel and
the close alliance of the United
States with Britain and France.
Greater Arabia is a strategically
situated territory, It occupies the
crossroads between Eurasia and
Africa, between Western Europe
and South Asia. It contains the
major source of Western Europe's
petroleum supplies.
Naser's seizure of the Suez Canal,
if he makes it stick, will bring
much closer the realization of the
Arabian nationalist dream of a
greater Arabia. Perhaps so much
closer that Nasser and his fellow
Arabian nationalists may feel im-
pelled to seek further successes -
against the West and against Is-
rael - in their drive to this goal.

"Life," he cried, "is so unfair
I should have been a millionaire!
I'd drive a car, a white Jaguar
with leopard trim and built-in bar,
Complete with blondes and red heads too,
A movie queen or two would do ... -
I'm lazy, crazy, debonnaire
I'd make a perfect millionaire!"
"Instead," he sobbed, "at twenty-five
I'll have to work to stay alive!"
