ion, managing editor of The Mich-
igan Daily, chairman of Joint Ju-
diciary and an SL representative.
This group is the more import-
ant in-.directing how student af-
fairs. will be run, acting as the
final decision board on such ques-
tions as whether sorority rushing
will be held in the spring or the
fail. It also has the important
function, of recognizing student
groups.
Student Government Committee
Because there has always been
a problem of delineating the func-
tions of the two bodies, plans are
underway for revising student gov-
ernment and organizing a Student
Government Committee.
A Student Affairs Study Com-
mnittee submitted a recommenda-
tion for the reorganization of stu-
dnet government to President Hat-
cher at the conclusion of last
spring semester. They recommend-
ed that a Student Government

Council be made up of 11 members
elected from the campus at large
by present voting procedures and
seven ex-officio members to be
selected from the highest student
officers on campus.
Functions now performed by
SAC and SL would be assumed by
the new group, and its decisions
would be final, subject to the Board
of Review.
This Board would be composed
of the Dean of Men, the Dean of
Women, three faculty members
chosen by the Faculty Senate Ad-
visory Committee, and two stu-
dents, one of whom would be the
president of the Council.
An assessment of 25 cents per
semester per student was reepm-
mended in the report to provide
for financing the student govern-
ment.

Clyde Vroman, director of ad-
missions at the University offered
a four-point program for prospec-
tive college freshmen to accom-
plish-before they begin their higher
education this fall.
Appearing on the radio program,
"U-M Report," which is provided
by the U-M Broadcasting Service
and broadcast each week by 15
Michigan radio stations, Vroman
urged sub-freshmen to:
1) Make sure they havecomplet-
ed arrangements for admission
and housing at the college of their
choice.
2) Visit the college or university
campus if at all possible during
the summer to chat with future
teachers, discuss courses, and be-
come acquainted with their future
home.

3) Decide well in advance how
they are going to make the physi-
cal move to the campus: deter-
mine what things they will take
with them and what things they
will leave at home
4) Men students should contact

their home town draft boards to
get a clear understanding of their
status under selective service laws.
If the student plans to take ROTC
training in his college, it is best
to apply before starting school in
the fall.
