Date Bureau Will Be Reopened
For Dance To Honor Veterans
Upperclass women especially are
urged to register at the Date Bureau
in the League lobby for theinformal
Veterans Dance from 8:30 p.m. to
midnight Friday at Waterman Gym.
Date Bureaus will be open from 3
to 5 p.m. -tomorrow, Tuesday, and
Wednesday, in both the League and
the Union lobbies for women and vet-
erans to sign up for dates for the
dance. Dates are guaranteed by Dot-
tie Wantz and Dick Roleder, social
chairmen of the League and Union.
Files to Be Used
Personswho registered at the date
bureaus during Orientation Week will
not need to sign again, since their
names are already on file.
Intended primarily to welcome re-
cently returned veterans, the affair
is under the co-sponsorship of the
League Council and Veterans Organi-
zation. Highlight of the evening will
be the informal introduction of Presi-
dent Alexander Ruthven and Univer-
sity Provost James P. Adams.
Laytoih to Play
Bill Layton and his campus orches-
tra, featuring Patty Du Pont on the
vocals, will furnish music for the
dancers. League Council members,
escorted by veterans, and married
veterans and their wives will act as
hosts and hostesses for the event.
Special entertainment, including
mixer dances, is planned to entertain
veterans and their dates. "We hope
that every veteran on campus will
attend. The dance is being given to
honor them, and it is their dance,"
Miss Wantz stated.
This is the first dance to be given
by the Veteran's Organization in con-
junction with another campus organi-
zation.
JGP Head Names
Dance Instructor
The social dancing classes sponsor-
ed by the Junior Girls Project, are
well launched into a successful sea-
son, according to Ann Lippincott,
JGP chairman.
The dancing instructor for these
classes is Sally Snyder. Miss Snyder,
who is enrolled in the Literary Col-
lege, taught dancing for two semesters
at Flint Junior College. Although her
specialty is Latin American dancing,
Miss Snyder has done a great deal of
work in modern dance.
Accompanist for the Chinese class
which meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday
is Ruth Hoffman. Shirley Grenburg
accompanies the beginners class at
7 p.m. Thursday and the intermediate
class at 8 p.m. Both women are en-
rolled in the School of Music.
Joint Program
Is To Be Qiven
By Glee Clubs
The University Women's Glee Club,
in collaboration with the Varsity Glee
Club, will give a concert at 8 p.m.
Wednesday, December 19 in the Lydia
Mendelssohn Theatre in the League.
Although definite selections have
not yet been chosen, the program
will be divided into two parts. One
half will be devoted to sacred songs
The new members of the Univer-
sity Women's Glee Club are as fol-
lows: first sopranos: Helen David,
Mary Echols, Pat Hollis, Rosemary
Larson, Betty Lee Russell, Dorothy
Simon, Susan Smith, Marilyn Watt,
and Lucile Willson.
The list continues with the second
soprano section: Barbara Cross, Car-
olyn Godley, Gloria Gray, Gloria
Hintz, Marcella Kratt, Barbara Mer-
rill. Clara Mettetal, Jean Murray,
Margaret Nichol, Sally Norton, and
Lois Patsloff.
Also on the list are, first altos:
Dorothy Beatty, Charlotte Boehm,
Jean Curtis, Barbara Gibson, Al-
lene Goldfine, Joyce Katz, Sybil
Katz, Virginia Olberding, Ruth
Stearn, Jean Thalner, and Dorothy
Waite.
The list concludes with the second
altos: Janet Allen, Mary Costantino,
Marion Riegel, and Margaret Shalk.

First Informal Tea of Term
Open to All Campus Students
The first Ruthven Tea of the sem-
ester will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.
Wednesday at the home of President
and Mrs. Alexander :G. Ruthven.
These informal teas are held the
first two Wednesdays of each month
in order that students may have an
opportunity to meet Dr. and Mrs.
Ruthven as well as other students on
campus.
All students are invited, but special
invitations for this tea are extended
to members of Alpha Chi Omega,
Kappa Delta, Beta Theta Pi, Delta
Tau Delta, Sigma Phi Epsilon, New-
berry dormitory, and Wenley House.
Mrs. William E. Goodale of Alpha
Chi Omega and Mrs. Harry B. Phelps
of Kappa Delta will pour from 4 to 5
p.m., and Mrs. Walter C. Newell of
Newberry and Mrs. Elliott K. Herd-
man of Wenley House will pour from
5 to 6 p.m.
All members of the League Social
Committee who are to act as hostess-
es must bring their eligibility cards.
Ballet slippers are comfortable as
well as practical, and can be worn
with everything from casual slacks
to pajamas. They can be bought in
colors and materials to match any,
costume.
