Mornings Abed In Spring Vacation
Necessitate Bright New Bed Coats

With no 8 o'clock or subsequent
classes to crawl out of bed for in
the spring vactation mornings, you'll
probably be spending much time be-
tween the sheets. But being beauti-
fully comfortable and comfortably

"Rain, rain, go away and come some
other day" is the common thought o
many Ann Arbor wishful thinkers
And those "some other days" add uI
to 72 out of the 216 days that the
students spend in this town famed
for its bad weather. Therefore, the
college girls' wardrobe must be
planned with the view of spending
one-third of the time walking tc
classes in stormy weather.
A trench raincoat high rubber boots
ransacked from the attic and a ban-
dana topped off by a dilapidatec
campus roller or a fireman's hat in-
veigled from the hometown fire de-
partment filfills the requirements of
protection, comfort, and style on
many campuses. But at Michigar
When the man of the hour is likely
to cross your path at any time, it is
necessary to look attractive even ir
the worst storm. Designers and man-
ufacturers have provided smart rair
apparel which meets the utilitariai:
and style requirements of the most
fastidious woman.
Reversibles Are Classic
Rain-proof camel hair coats cut
either on fitted or loose lines are al-
ways appropriate in the college girls'
wardrobe. Reversibles, too, are an
indispensible classic. one smart
model cut on double-breasted reefer
lines is made up of tan gabardine
and on the other side the gay Mc-
Kinsey plaid. It features the popu-
lar hood which is flattering to the
face and protects those hard-earned
curls from the rain.
Another attractive coat is made up
of .green wool herringbone tweed and
beige gabardine on the other side.
It is cut on loose lines and empha-
sizes raglan sleeves. Gabardine re-
versibles serve a double purpose as a
rainproof coat and campus coat
adaptable for innumerable occasions.
"Boots" And Their Buddies
Once the problem of choosing a'
raincoat is solved (and fitted gabar-
dine reversibles'with hoods are par-
ticularly chic), the accessories must
be selected. Saddle shoes are ap-
proved by custom but why not ex-
press your individuality by wearing a
pair of knee-length boots or rubbers
fashioned like your favorite shoes?
Rather than a bandanna or snap
brim hat which has weathered many
storms, carry an umbrella with your
favorite design splashed on it in gay
colors. Umbrellas now have the add-
ed advantage' of being put out in
small collapsible sizes making them
convenient to handle.
There is no need to "Beware the
Ides of March." Dress up in a hood-
ed reversible with the smart new
accessories, and go for ;A walk in a
cloudburst with your favorite man.

For the poor woian whose long-
awaited trip home is b, bugaboo be-
cause of the dreaded train trip, the
end of which finds her in the most
unkempt condition with all 'the soot
and cinders picked up along the way,
the answer to the problem has been
found in an attractive, handy cos-
metic kit.
The kit is made in all fab rics, one
in the ever-popular alligator which
is waterproof and wears for ages, is
put up by one :of the famous cosme-
ticions in the country. It is also
found in pigskin, leathers, .and less
expensive fabrics.
There is room for the necessary
cleansing cream, which comes in
handy as a soap substitute. With
some sheets of cleaning tissue, the
complexion can retint that unblem-
ished appearance al lthough the trip.
There are spaces for foundation
cream, too, and for small boxes of

powder, rouge, and lipstick. A jaunt
into the rest room with the trusty
kit will resuscitate the weary traveler,
and keep her looking as good as new.
The kits are also found in the draw-
string variety, in waterproof ma-
terial, and resemble sewing kits.
There is plenty room for bottles, jars
and as an added suggestion, for the
emergency runner in that best pair
of hose, a spool of thread and some
needles.
In the medium sizes, the kits don't
take up more space than the average
purse and are just as handsome as
the best-looking bag. -All but the
verdant, untried freshman, perhaps,
realize the premium on a minimum
of luggage and with the heavy, larger
luggage sent on ahead, the cosmetic

either a benefiscently angelic, or a

to your mood or inclination.
Another jacket is of aqua rayon
velvet with huge shoulders and
stitched sleeves which tighten just
below the elbow. The neckline and
edges are trimmed with a wide edge,
of lace and suggest real luxury.
Collars Are Soft
Also of rayon velvet is a capelike
jacket with long sleevs edged with
maribou and a quilted coat with a
round collar and velvet draw-string
about the neck. These come in tea-
rose, white, Florentine blue, aqua and
po wder blud.
Several of the smartest jackets
come in combination with nighties.'
One of these, a princess style ice-
green satin nightie triimmed at thej
neckline with natural lace cut dar-
ingly low, has a jacket of the same
material in accordian pleats.
Novel Style Shown

Bright Scarves Are Used
For Rain-Kerchiefs Now
Two years ago the freshman's
dresser drawers were crammed to
the hilt with bright scarves (three-
cornered), novelty belts, and old pins.
string of pearls, one heavy silver
necklace, a complete dirth of belts
'witness the baggy effect), and a
stray pin or two.
Transplanted from neck-utility to
use as rain-kerchiefs, the scarf can
still be found in dark corners of the
closet or stuffed in stray pockets

You'll find them in every color, in checks or plaids or even plain
when the first signs of spring see women dropping their coats to
assume the half-way measure of jackets. Because they're comfortable,
because they're smart, and because they're the proper touch for the
skirt and sweater uniform, you'll find there universally acclaimed by
their wearers. Wear them with pork-pies, rollers or just plain noggins
and you'll be fit to face the longest tramp in comfort, unhindered
by cumbersome coat skirts.

Now, while the last of the snows,
still lingers on the ground and the
wind twists complainingly around the
chimney, is the tinie to plan your
spring vacation to the southern parts
of the globe. Whether it's a trip to
Florida or a cruise to the Bahama
Isles, you'll want a new swim suit.
Always irresistible are the bright-
colored celanese rayon swim suits
which combine both .style and com-
fort so successfully.' One suit has
groups of small dots sprinkled over
a blue background and has a bit of
shirring at the neck for fit and trim-
ming. A yellow suit is printed with
green pine needles and brown pine
cones. Another dressmaker suit has
a very full halter top and an equally
full skirt shirred in at the waistline.
Lastex Retains Favor
Lastex continues its popularity of
last summer, the new suits coming inI
as attractive styles and colorfulI
prints as those in other materials. I
One lastex suit is distinguished by:
a diagonal stripe of bright figures1

over a dark background. One rachel
satin with lastex yarn goes nautical
with dark brown sea shells printed on
it. Nor is lastex confined to mailots,
for there are many figured bra and
panty suits.
Rubber Is Flattering
The suave flattery of rubber can-
not go unnoticed. One rubber suit
with hat to match is white printed
with blue flowers. This has a snap-
on halter. Another figured suit has
a flighty little skirt attached over its
tight shorts.
Large Fitted Purses Are
Pouplar, Useful, Stylish
Even though they may be large,
they're useful and stylish. Fitted
purses have gained a great deal of
popularity this season, especially on
this campus. These satchels have'
room and compartmets for every-
thing.
