Practical Gifts
Are Preferred
By Gentlemen

Many Suggestions Include'
Luggage, Typewriters As
Acceptable
While it is often possible to please
a woman with a gift of some orna-
mental novelty, most men prefer1
practical presents which will be of
use to them.
A smart piece of luggage is always
a most acceptable gift. Even if a
man does not travel regularly, he al-
ways has a definite periodical need
for luggage and one or two smart,
well made pieces will last him for
years. T
Ideal Week-End Bag
Illustrated here is a Gladstone bag
in cowhide. This type of suitcase is
ideal for week-ends and is especially
useful where dress and day clothes
are necessary, as one side of the bag
can be packed with the dress clothes
and the other with the balance of
the wardrobe. Either side can be
reached without disturbing the other.
Behind the Gladstone bag is shown
a rawhide suitcase. This case is
very useful for packing suits as well
as linen, as it keeps the articles fiat.
and smoothly packed. The suitcase
is possibly the most valuable single
luggage item that a man can possess.
For the business or professional
man a portable typewriter always
makes a welcome present. Portables,
nowadays, are strongly constructed,
efficient instruments.
Portable Typewriters Good
For school, the portable is un-
rivalled as it does not occupy much
space in one's room and is as con-
veniently taken home as a small
overnight bag.
For the golf enthusiast a set of
matched woods or irons or both make
a preferred present. Care should be
taken in their selection, as the golf
club is a highly individual piece of
equipment and the recipient should
be permitted to select his own. A
golf bag of either canvas or leather is
an accessory every golfer requires.
For the tennis enthusiasts the best
rule is to try and duplicate the rack-
ets they already possess, as their
weight and balance presumably.
A radio, whether is be a smart
table model, a portable, or a console,
makes a fine Christmas present. Ra-
dios are obtainable in a great range
of prices to fit any pocketbook. The
small set illustrated above, has the

New Additions
To Wardrobe
AlwaysWanted
Leather Windbreaker Is
Essential For Man Who
Loves Out-Of-Doors
No man can honestly say that his
wardrobe is absolutely complete-
and additions to it are always wel-
come. Of course in making the se-
lection, one must bear in mind the
type of clothing the man most re-
quires, and the type of activity in
which he is most interested.
For the outdoor man an alm st es-
sential part of his equipment is the
windbreaker of suede or smooth fin-
Ished leather. This may have either
a zipper or button front, or, as shown
in the illustration, a combination of
both. For all types of sportswear in
brisk weather, the leather windbreak-
er is an ideal garment.
A knitted cardigan is shown just
below the windbreaker. This may
be used in place of a pullover or in
place of a waistcoat, and comes in
both sleeveless and sleeve model. It is
an excellent present for those who
do not like sweaters that must be
put on over the head. The smart
checked pattern shown here is par-
ticularly useful for wear with coun-
try suits.
Below it is shown the most popular
type of pullover worn today. It is
one of a light weight Shetland in
blue with a dark blue neckline and
trim at the sleeves and bottom. Its
length is conveniently short and the
absene eof sleeves makes it practical
to wear with a suit. This pullover
is a smart and comfortable substitute
for a waistcoat.
Pajamas are welcome presents at.
any time of the year, and the two
models shown here are as practical
as they are smart. The upper one is
in broad British stripes and is a type
favored by many. The lower one is in
a solid color and carries a piping in
a contrasting shade. Both are in
good taste, and are available in a
range of prices.
Both styles are the button up the
front variety but this is not to imply
that they are the only style. Rivalling
them and even surpassing them in
the judgment of some men is the
pajama that slips over your head.
The advantage being that it is but-
tonless.

For the Man:
STUD SETS, KEY CHAINS, LIGHTERS,

And Many Other 1/ems

Jewelry and accessories are thingst
which college nen seldom purchase
themselves. They frequently have a
real need for these things, and so,
of course, such items make excellent
Christmas presents. Below is shown
an assortment of jewelry which would
please the most discriminating.
In the upper left hand corner is a
new type of cigarette lighter which
works on an entirely new principle
and is most satisfactory. Alongside
of it is a- wristwatch in a modern
oblong shape. Wrist watches today
are favored eight or nine to one over
pocket watches, despite Phi Beta
Kappa keys, and it is safe to assume
that every man who hasn't one wants
one.
In the upper right hand corner is
shown one stud and one cufflink from

an evening dress set. These are avail-
able in pearl, mother of pearl, plain
gold, enamel, and precious stones.
Below them is shown a cuff link
and tie clasp with enamel fronts in
regimental stripes-a popular inno-
vation in masculine jewelry. Below
these is shown another tie clasp
which carries a small chain for the
tie to pass through and a three-
letter monogram-a smart individual
touch.
In the lower left hand corner is
shown an evening. dress set of links
and studs of pure crystal. These
have been much favored lately by
well-dressed men and come in a
handsome box.
In the right hand corner is a foun-
tain pen and pencil set in a smart
but simple design.

Traveling Kits A Good Gift
For Collegians Must Travel

College may be a series of disil-
lusionments but no matter how much
it fails to come up to the standards
set by the movies there is one thing
that will inevitably confront you. The

tains a comb, brush, shoehorn, tooth
