It won't be long before Ann Arbor goes into seclusion for a week or so
for those inevitable finals . .. Everyone seems to be making the most of
these last week-ends before the fray .. .Almost all the houses are giving
parties and this past week-end came in for a good share of them . . Ste-
phanie sends her compliments to the Education School seniors for their dance
Saturday night . .. It was a big success and deserves this week's blue ribbon.
Everyone seemed to be enjoying the party at the Delta Tau Delta house
Friday . .Barbara Teall wearing green organdy danced gaily by with
Johnny Schaumberger. . . They greeted Betty Gatward and Frank Danne-
miller as they came in . . . Betty Ronal and Fredldy Buesser arrived amid
many shouts . . . Chuck Burgess . . . president of the house a few years
back . . .and Ann Timmons arrived at the party in a car much to the envy
of everyone else . .Bob Henoch and Marion Fitzgerald were standing in
the doorway as they came up . .. .Harriet Sliackleton and Graf Sharpe
'Went strolling out on the porch where they were joined by Betty Sinclair
and Bud Smith .. .
The Union was a gay place as usual Friday night . . . At a table on the
edge of the dance floor we noticed Jean Bertram and LaVerne Burns .. .
Sue Haviland and Ross Beaumont.. . Al Ricker and Ruth Washer . .. They
were having fun chatting about everything in general . . . Shirl Crossman
did the singing and 'twas very nice, too . . . After each song she joined Carl
Clement at a table near the orchestra . . -Wemmer Gooding and Jane O'Fer-
rall were sitting with them.

And now for the hit of the week . . . the education dance . . . the Wom-
en's Athletic Building was decorated with huge baskets of spring flowers
and colored lights were strung out on the teriace . . . we noticed Kai Nielson
. . . chairman of the dance . . ..strolling around with Helen Bertrem who
came out from Detroit for the week-end . . . Helen was wearing pink
flowered satin on a white background . .. John English and Helen McLane
stopped to chat with them on the terrace . . . Bessie Curtis in pink crepe
with ecru lace trimming, dashed by with Bob Speer evidently on her
way to the dance floor .. .
Inside we noticed Floydene Beardslee dancing with von Brownlee .. .
Floydene's suntan looked lovely with her flowered seersucker formal .. .
Alice Hayes and Emerson Kempf danced by just then and seemed to be
enjoying themselves immensely . . . Over in one corner Freda Bogin and
Joe Biller were doing a very complicated pivot that Stephanie couldn't
quite follow . . . Chuck Emling . . . another committeeman and Bebe
Paine were doing some fancy steps too . . . Bebe was wearing a chocolate
brown satin dress that was good looking . .. As we left through the terrace
door we noticed John Chandler and Marion Cranmore wending their way
in to join the crowd on the floor . -
Over at the Phi Rho Sigma house there was a big party that most
of the Beta's attended . . . We saw Barbara Worth and John Park talking
to Mary Jane Frye and Wallie Harkins on the porch . . Virginia Smith
and Doug Farmer strolled by as we joined the dancers . . .Joanne Kimmell
in red and white checked organza and Jim Crawford were doing some trick
steps over in one corner . . .they were being watched by Fran O'Dell and Cal
Stetson ...
Angel Maliszewski and Scott Daily were heading for the punch bowl when
we saw them . . . Eleanor Smith and Fred Boynton had the same idea
and soon quite a crowd had gathered . . . Betty Young in a yellow formal
Was chatting with Bill Loose when Betsy Baxter and Tom Mackey came up
for refrhments . .Beth Ranney and Norm Williamson soon joined
the group...
The P. Phi hou e was turned into a veritable chinese garden with dozens
of colored lanterns all over the house . . . Marion Holden was dancing with
B111 Mason . . . Marion looked cool and lovely in flowered chiffon ...
Sitting on the steps eating ice cream we had a grand view of the crowd .. .
Two steps below Grace Snyder and Don Pomeroy were indulging in refresh-
ments . . . Betty Scherling wearing a pastel flowered chiffon and Harold
Love had the seat of honor just above us . . . Edith Zerbe and Bud Doerr
found room to squeeze in at the bottom of the strairs just as we decided
to go out in the garden.

The rain held off long enough for the Alpha Chis to enjoy their Saturday
night dance ... When we arrived Ralph DuBois and Margaret Watterston
were chatting on the front steps with Roberta Chissus and John Parker . .
The smoking room down stairs remained comparatively empty . . . For it
woas much nicer outside . . . With windows all open the dance floor was
cool ... and the orchestra soon brought Rog Bradley and "Eva Spencer and
Lowell Krieg and Maxine Blaess in from outside to dance . . . Maxine had
on a striped dress with a ruffle around the neckline . . . Jean Nelson in a
lavender plaid gingham was dancing with Bob Rouse.
The combination of fast pieces and warm weather created a steady line
waiting for punch. . . Grace Lamb was giving Bob McQueen his glass . .
and Jean Steare almost spilled some on Chuck White when Doris Wisner
got a little anxious about Willis Player and his share of the beverage . .
Going out again between dances we noticed Dick Wangelin and Bob
Trimbey waiting at the bottom of the stairs for Betty Kay Jones and Dor-
othy Shatt . . . Upstairs a group was also gathered . . . and in the center
we caught a glimpse of Marty Morrison with Bob Seaman and a good coat;
of sunburn . . .Jane Mutschler and Irwin Bailey were commenting on it . .
