for

Plans have been completed for
the Union formal ball, the first of
its kind to be sponsored by the
Union as an organization, to be,
held in the ballroom of the Union
next Friday, Nov. 7, it was stated
yesterday by Albert F. Donohue, '31,
president of the Union.
The Alabamians, colored record-
ing orchestra for Columbia, are
coming from Chicago for the dance.
At present, they are playing in a
Chicago club and have been fea-
tured in Kansas City and in the;
Boulevard de Paris night club, St.
Paul, Minn. "We are very fortun-
ate,"' Donohue said, "in securing an
orchestra of the quality of the Ala-,
bamians."
Library Open for Loungers.
Late permission for women stud-
ents, allowing them to stay out
until 2:30 o'clock on the night of
the dance, is expected to be granted
by the Senate Committee on Stud-
ent Affairs at their meeting tomor-
row.
Special club breakfast will be
served after 12:15 o'clock in the
taproom of the Union and refresh-
ments will be served in the ball-
room and in the cafeteria. This is
one of the few occasions during
the year that women will be allowed
in the taproom. The Pendleton
library on the second floor. will also
be open for lounging purposes on
every dance night.
Ticket Sale Monday.
The members of the Board of
Directors of the Union will be the
ehaperones for the dance.
This formal, Donohue pointed
out, is another item in the biggest
year of dances at the Union. At-
tendance records have surpassed
last years and also the Union's
banner year in 1928. Tickets will
be on sale Monday at the desk in
the main lobby of the Union.
