Three Iowa Swimmers
May Enter A. A. Meet
IOWA CITY, Iowa, March 19.-
Bouyed up by hopes of being sent
to the National Collegiate A. A.
championships, three University of
Iowa swimmers and one champion
diver have resumed practice in the
Hawkeye pool.
Wentworth Lobdell, Iowa's first
Western Conference champion
sinee 1927, has his eyes on the N. C.

yard free style.
Iowa's seven point total which
netted a tie for fifth place with
Wisconsin is the largest number of
points made in the Conference
meet by a Hawkeye team since
1926. A beautiful exhibition of
fancy diving by Lobdell gave him
a margin of about six points over
the runner-up.

fer the Wolverines plenty of oppo-
sition in their effort to complete
the regular dual meet season with-
out a reverse. The Badger paddlers
have survived the season to date
with only a single reverse, and that
at the hands of Illinois. The Illini
were lucky to win over the Madi-?
son entry by a 39-37 score.
Against Michigan the Cardinals
will flash a free style relay quartet,
of Davis, Shaffter, Chizek, and!
Lange which holds along with Chi-
cago A. A. the national record for,
the 160-yard free style relay.
When the Wolverine 200 yard free
style combine of Hosmer, Walaitis,
Walker, and Smith, holder of the
mark at that distance, and the,
Badgers meet the Wolverines will
hold a slight edge.
In the 100 yard free style num-
ber Chizek and Lange will make
things interesting for the Wolver-
ine entries while Meyer, a breast-
stroker, and Thomsen in the back
stroke are considered possible first
place winners. The Badger medley
1 combine of Hall, Perry, and Erm-
ence should offer the Michigan
medley lineup a hard fight.
