Golf Squad Prove
Varsity Material
This.year's freshman golf squad
has three exceptionally good men
fo tho Varsity in Lenfesty, Hicks,
and Howard, according to Coach
Trueblood, in charge of the team.
All three hmsen have had excellent
records on various links in the
I country before coming here and
have played a style of golf that is
impressive on any course.
Jack Lenfesty, captain of thc
fe shman squad, an a number one
man, was former Public Course
champion of the Middle West, and
proved himself to be one of the best
players on the' cipus sbyremain-
ing in the all-emps tournament
last fall till the last round, when
he was put out of play by a mem-
yerr of the Varsity foursome.
Hicks was Junior . champion of
Gong Island last year and since
playing here has given the Varsity
players a b. and of golf which they
find hard to beat without some
3ornment.
Another man who is considered to
3e of Varsity calibre, is Johnny
4oward. In the Michigan State
;ournament last year. Howard was
Snbt put out of play till the second
round by Dave Ward of the Var-
sity squad, but it is commendable
that he was able' to remain in a
championship flight until that
round.

During ten months of activity,I
eleven Michigan men have officially
passed the requirements for admis-
sion to Sigma Delta Psi, honorary
national athletic fraternity. It is"
expected that two more will qualify
before the award banquet to be held
on Tuesday, May 28, at the Union.
OVer 200 aspirants to membership
completed some of their require-
ments, but only eleven have shown
the all around ability necessary to
pass all the tests which include
track and field events, swimming,
punting, tumblingt erect posture,

not needed in any particular event
